Wow. Sorry, but that was one bullshit call. Isn't it enough that there are too many penalties called without making up ones?

That's why it's so funny. When a crowd can influence a ref like that, though, it is a pretty sad state.

For those that didn't see, Briere got called for a trip when Higgins just wiped out trying to do a spin off. The crowd gave the phantom call a standing ovation (after calling for the penalty desperately when Higgins wiped out). Kovalev scored on the ensuing PP.

Ryder is looking like Jan Bulis and Oleg Petrov right now.

You're right Sask - I am laughing inside because it was Briere. And unfortunately, you're also right on Ryder.... Mad

PENALTY SHOT!!!

No speed at all by Hammer. Laughing

TSN is right, too bad we couldn't take the penalty instead.

Streit's a UFA? Shit - not only have I not had alot of bad things to say re: TSN, but I agree with McGuire - they've got to resign this guy. I wasn't sold on him before, but as I see more games - Streit is one solid player.

Yeah, our potential UFA crop is Huet, Ryder, Streit, Smoke and Breezer. Streit is too versatile to lose. Not just the D/F thing, but he plays both sides on D, a left hand shot on the RH side for the most part, but can play the left side as well.

Hamrlik's having a tough game.

Aww hell. McGuire says ANOTHER thing I agree with - the team is playing passionately this year.

Pretty sure it is... but given the state of Philly's D, it's almost a good thing for the Habs (OH SHIT - what a save by Knuble!!!).

EDIT: !!!!! That was Biron?! Day-um.

Higgins has 4 goals this year. That's shocking that he has that many. That means if he actually was converting most of the gimmes, he'd have about 17 already.

I'm not usually the toot my own horn type, but Streit has been one of my favourite players for some time. He's smooth skating, intelligent and rarely makes mistakes.

Chris Lee is clearly the worst referee in the NHL right now. At least Bettman is watching up close.

When it comes to hockey, we all like to one up another. Back in the 2006 offseason, I thought we should let Bouillon walk because we had Streit ready to go. He impressed me in his limited action, even when everyone was harping on him saying he was only playing a certain number of games because of some pre-arranged clause in his contract or some strange shit like that. I was glad we got him back for 2 years at his rate. Last year, we had our greatest success when he was on D, even though he had a good run as a forward (the team didn't). He's a great puckmover/skater and I don't care that he's not physical. Our transition game is improved about ten fold when he's there.

I'm all for signing him, and I think it'll get done. Guy is happy someone finally believed in him as a NHL player, and while I'm sure a number of teams will court him on the open market, I believe he won't make it there.

They mentioned Brisebois is right behind Tom Johnson in GP. I'll admit - I had no idea who he was, so here is an article about him:

http://www.simcoe.com/article/26958

"Johnson played with Rocket, coached Orr"

This has been a dominant, but still fortunate performance so far. 2 posts by Philly and that phantom call on Briere are part of the difference in the scoreboard.

Smith got lucky on that Latendresse follow through. Just missed the eye. Philly would be FUCKED if he was out, although they still have their #1 guy in Timmonen.
