Spectors and apparently TSN also reported this....
Quote:
THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS HAVE TRADED NIKOLAI ZHERDEV AND DAN FRITSCHE TO THE NY RANGERS IN EXCHANGE FOR FEDOR TYUTIN AND CHRISTIAN BACKMAN.

Bizarre trade. Columbus needs front line d-men and they get more 3-5 guys. They're just stuck in neutral as an organization.

Weird to give up on Z after he finally had a decent season. When Tyutin came into the league he was heralded as a legit pp qb of the future (at least in lots of the fantasy hockey mags) but at least from his stats doesn't look like he's shown much.

Wise move by Columbus. Zherdev is a malcontent Russian....that always represents a hold out threat when negotiating a new contract. Let the rags deal with that shit.

Tyutin is a nice addition and although he hasn't met the hype yet he's still got time.

Don't forget the BJ's brought aboard Torres and Umberger as well.

Huselius compliments Nash quite well.

I'll be curious to see how well, or if, a Naslund-Gomez-Zherdev line works for New York next year. I don't see either of those wingers working with Drury all that well.

Fritsche, if he can stay healthy, brings some nice speed to the 3-4 lines.
