Ricciardi apologizes. When JP gets shown the door at the end of the season, it's going to be tough for him to ever get a GM job again. He's a PR nightmare without the results to back up the talk.
Is he right about Adam Dunn? Yeah, probably, but there's no reason to explode at some fan who called into a radio show and asked him about Dunn. |
Aaaand JP says he talked to Dunn on Saturday and apologized, while Dunn says he's full of shit

and Gaston is working his usual magic. 14-1 over the reds.
too bad this guy never got another job outside of toronto. I bet his resume would look close to HOF by now.
Although Richard Griffin implies that he doesn't have the smarts, I disagree and would be interested to see what kind of team he builds. At the very least, I would assume he'd be an astute evaluator of offensive talent.

| That leaves the GM's role. Baseball's best GMs are not necessarily the smartest. They are the best because they surround themselves with complementary talents. If Gaston became GM (and he likes living in Toronto, as opposed to some) he already has a talented young assistant in Canadian Alex Anthopoulos to handle the minutiae and contracts. As for the senior guys on the baseball side, Gaston has a lot of friends from his many years in baseball to tap into. |

I'm wondering when the C.C. Sabathia hunt will kick into high gear
Of course the Yankees will be in hot pursuit, with Wang out
A surprise suitor could be the Rays
They haven't been in this position since...well, ever
They also have a deep farm system _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

High gear indeed; C.C. gets traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for stud prospect Matt LaPorta and two low-tier prospects.
The Brewers-Cards-Cubs race for the division and likely the Wild Card is going to be a tremendous second half story. Looking forward to it. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

As a decision maker, Bruce Bochy is the worst manager I have ever seen in all my years of baseball watching. If you can sit through a Giants series and say otherwise, then more the power to ya.
No doubt the Giants suck, and Sabean is a disgrace, but in terms of fundamentals I have never seen a team shoot themselves in the feet as often as the Giants do. Even the veterans are a collective bunch of boneheads on the field. No one on this team can lay down a bunt or complete a hit-and-run. Baserunning? Ugh. Hitting the cut off man? Rarely if ever. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

| Its not Bochy's job to teach a bunch of 35 year old's how to execute the fundamentals. They should have long ago learned how to do the things you ask for in their sleep. It's Sabean's goof if he has boneheaded greybeards who can't do the basics, not Bochy's... |

I'm glad I decided to watch the All-Star Game. It's been pretty damn good. In extra innings right now, hopefully this doesn't end in a tie. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

we have ties in our league. had the umpire seen the ball hit the runner's knee right in front of me, we'd have won our season opener. instead we tied a team that is now 2-8-1.
Moral of the story - Razz will never make the show, and ties don't belong in baseball... |

Yay, one less washed-up vet Bochy can't send out there. Let's hope Vizquel retires and the triumphant return of Dave Roberts gets delayed a few weeks.
BTW, nice work by Bochy leaving Lincecum in one inning too long. The guy is less than a week removed from a hospital visit, was struggling badly, and Bochy keeps him in allow a 3-run jack. He was clearly running on fumes to everyone but Bochese and Rags.
Bring up Nate the Natural and let's play the kids! And for the love of everything, can someone other than Burger Molina bat cleanup for a change? _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.
