Beat me to it! Anyways, this is not a transfer agreement, and doesn't affect a player like Jagr signing at all. This is about players under contract not jumping ship between the leagues. So, in fact, if the Malkin episode of getting him into Pittsburgh happened today instead of two years ago, the NHL and the Penguins would be in clear violation.
Jagr had no contract. He was free to sign anywhere. A guy like Svitov, however, should've stayed in the NHL last year, as he had a NHL contract before he had a RSL one.
There is no agreement in place to transfer players between the leagues when they are under contract. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. Didn't Malkin put in that 15 days notice thing which threw his final year out the window? And then they changed that rule in Russia? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Yeah, that's what I meant. If a Malkin situation happened under this summer's climate, he'd be staying in Russia for 4 years. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I realise he was a UFA but it still has to get the league thinking that if Jagr will go than it's just a matter of time before they start attracting other big names to ditch their contracts in favor of Tax free rubles. |

Radulov bolting?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080711/sp_afp/ihockeynhlrususachlradulov_080711092040
So much for the transfer agreement.
I won't believe this until there is an official announcement or more reputable source but if true that sucks big time for the Preds, although it kind of serves them right for not giving him more ice time and PP time last year. _________________

Radulov would have stuck around if he were still playing in Quebec. Just sayin... _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry

This alone is reason enough to force the Avalanche back to the Basse-Ville. Do it for Alex! _________________

http://mirtle.blogspot.com/2008/07/nhl-vs-khl-double-standard.html
So the KHL asks a natural question... if we can't have Radulov, why can the NHL have Jason Krog or Tomas Mojzis, two players who signed with the KHL but have since signed NHL deals?
This has just started, and the IIHF is in between a rock and a hard place. For years, the NHL has been the IIHF's sugar daddy. Well, there's a new kid in town.
Speed up those NHL European expansion plans? _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

I don't really get how KHL owners can keep paying these salaries... their average attendance is something like 3,000, and I don't think the price of admission is a thousand bucks. _________________

Sponsorships and a willingness to lose money for something they love, I suppose. A lot of KHL/RSL teams aren't very competitive financially or on the ice... it's really only a group of about 5 or so teams that are making the big splashes. _________________ "Oh my God. Well, forget it, the Russians have officially walked away.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/8525600/Russian-league-accuses-NHL-of-poaching-players
The NHL deserves a good share of the blame on this. Right up until the "agreement" neither league seemed particularly interested in honoring the contracts of the other one. There was poaching-a-plenty going on. I don't know what the deal is with these two players mentioned in the article, but prior to that Bettman and his cronies should've put the memo out that NO team was to sign a player under contract in Russia.
I guess this means Ray Emery might yet return to the NHL this season...assuming he wants to and a team actually wants him. |

Could he, er, not give Raycroft a bit of a run for his money? _________________
