Given how hot Kovalev and Tanguay have been and how integral each has been to their respective clubs' success, no way is this trade happening.
Apparently the pre-requisite for Forsberg is a Swedish player on your roster. Several clubs are apparently trying to lure Niklas Sundstrom out of retirement.
You know Phoenix is bad when Fredrik friggin' Sjostrom is their leading goal-scorer. Good news is because of him they have a leg up in the Forsberg sweepstakes. |

Damn. If only Saku could speak Swedish as well as he speaks French, English, Finnish, and Klingon.
The Kovalev-Tanguay rumor is not at all true in any form. Keenan didn't actually like Kovalev that much in NY, and has never tried to acquire him before. And Tanguay isn't in the doghouse in Calgary currently anyways. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? He will be.
Not that the trade will happen then in any event but Tanguay and his house-of-cards confidence frustrating a guy as impatient as Keenan is as inevitable as Ed Belfour getting into trouble at a bar. |

Frankly, it's a damn embarrassment and threat to our culture that Markus Näslund still hasn't mastered Cantonese. The guy's been in Vancouver since 1996, for cryin' out loud! _________________

According to a report from The Globe and Mail, Forsberg left the ice after a Monday practice with the Swedish national team, saying his ankle "doesn't feel good" and prompting him to pull out of the event altogether.
Forsberg's appearance at the Cup was considered by many to be a litmus test as to whether the forward would return to the NHL. Detroit, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Dallas, Vancouver, Los Angeles and Colorado were all among the teams interested in Forsberg's progress. Now, his potential NHL return seems to be on hold, again.
"I have to say, I've never been so close to saying my career is over right now," Forsberg was quoted as saying in The Globe and Mail.

You wouldn't have ever heard Yzerman saying shit like that. Even w/ his bone-on-bone knees.

Yup, he's the exact opposite of every other NHLer out there--he underperforms in contract years. Hopefully he finally figures it out, when he was with the Sharks he was a very solid two-way D-man. |

It's funny, because at the time I thought he was underperforming in San Jose as well. He's always left something to be desired, and now I think with all the different teams it's been exposed more prominently. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater.
