RW's response to the Nickelback hate had me thinking...what artists/genres/styles do you absolutely DETEST? No, I'm not talking sick of, not mildly annoying stuff, what music positively has you running for the dial (or ear plugs) any time it comes on?
I think the one artist who positively makes me want to scream every time she comes on the air is Macy Gray. Seriously...WTF did people see in her? And amazing as it sounds, she's an even worse actress than she is a musician. |

I never cast off entire genres, but I tend to stay away from 80's hair metal/arena rock. There's a certain smug irony about the genre that turns me off a bit. Notable (positive) exceptions would be AC/DC and Def Leppard.
Everyone I know really loves Tom Waits, and while I wouldn't say I detest him, I'm certainly not a fan. A lot of self-important songwriter types I find to impenetrable to really enjoy: Elvis Costello, Warren Zevon, Randy Newman, a good chunk of Dylan's work. They all have great songs, but they're all guilty of writing songs exclusively for themselves.
Neo-country is weird. Although a lot of new country singers have written great pop tunes, they don't have the same warmth and character of older, more traditional country tunes. It's certainly not bad, and I do enjoy a few new country artists, but I find many neo artists sound as glossy as modern pop stars, and some what made country music so special and relateable is gone. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. I usually steer clear of most country and R&B.....while I do like certain songs and groups I do not actively immerse myself into those genres looking for new tunes. Usually I run the other way when either genre hits my ears.
I am not into a lot of screaming in my music either. While screaming provides emphasis at some point......screaming full time is irritating. _________________

System of a Down makes me want to take an 18 volt drill to my temples. Something about a grown man screaming about bananas and pie in a squeaky falsetto over a pounding drum beat and squealing noises reminds me a little bit of early Yoko Ono collaborations.
Yuck!

the Drop Kick Murphy's make me change the Dial faster than you can say
"Who the fuck are these guys?"
Just another example of a Boston band pushed by the local radios/sports media down the collective public's throats
Now I know those of you not living in the Commonwealth are asking:
"Who the fuck are these guys?"
Try telling that to the media base that thinks they are Nationally recognized
If I hear one more station say: "limited time only, the Drop Kick Murphys!!!"
Yeah, like they're doing a fucking US tour...right...
didn't we go through this with J.Geils Band
Look, it's a band that plays sort of irish/rock, kind of
except they do neither very well
I guess the Irish folk listeners think it's a rock band adding Irish to their repertoire; the rock folks think it's an Irish band adding rock to their gig
Well neither realizes that they suck at both _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

I've heard of them, have probably heard of some of their stuff but don't remember if exactly. They're not restricted just to Mass(I figure that's what you meant by Commonwealth).
I don't listen to country or hip-hop. Couple of rap songs are in my MP3 player, but older stuff.
I really don't listen to the radio at all anymore except Psychadellic Sundays on Q107 and for 102.1's morning show. I'd rather listen to people bitch about what's wrong with the Jays and the Leafs than the crappy music played so much on the radio. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!
