A guy on HFBoards has already made his avatar something along these lines:

| Wow, that is just pure, plain, unadulterated, bad fuckin' luck right there. To lose Salo and Bieksa on two freak accidents like that in the same game is just plain weird. |
And the savings on BXA's salary if he is gone for the seaon certainly won't bring in a top 4 guy. |

| I understand last night was the first non-sellout in ages. I think fans are reacting to a perception of a lack of effort on the team. |

No I'm not going to rail on about the brittleness. BXA was trying to play hurt through an abdominal strain, and then that freak accident. That's just bad luck. So is Salo's, although with him, you get the feeling he'd catch a cold in a sauna...
As for the non-sellout, let em whine. It's not the team's fault Nonis did nothing about improving them over the summer. Naslund, Morrison and Cooke are stealing a lot of money. The weakness up front puts added pressure on the D corps, and they end up giving up higher quality chances than usual. This leads to a leakier Luongo as well.
I highly doubt any of the Canuck fans on this board REALLY expected the team to breeze through the regular season to a division title. They didn't even do that last year, and the other teams in the division made bigger improvements. Ryan Shannon? Mason Raymond? Give me a break. This is a function of too much money tied up in players that are past it, and an almost complete lack of developing youngsters available for calling up when guys get hurt.
I think this looks good on Johnny Canuck fan that thought the Canucks were a clear contender this year. As for you folks, well, the good news is that Vigneault dealt masterfully with a similar start last year, and there's cap room for Floppa should Naslund decide to actually do something useful for his team... |

I, for one, never ever thought of this team as being a contender.
Bad luck with injuries sucks, but good teams worl through that. Not that injuries was our first problem... |
