This game was closer than the final score. The first three goals were kind of fluky - the first was a 2 on 1 (or 0?) shorthanded, the second was kind of a funny line change with Thornton coming off the bench and waltzing untouched right into the slot (nice pass from Marleau), the third was a crazy shot by Setoguchi after he picked some defenseman's pocket and basically winged it in with a blind shot. And the last goal was a 5-on-3 after the yotes lost it - Boynton (noble warrior) settled a score with Bernier who had rammed Jovo into the boards from behind earlier in the game and picked up the 2-5-10. The fourth goal was a nice play by Cheechoo and a great finish by Setoguchi.

Setoguchi looks like Cheechoo did two years ago - always around the puck and a big time nose for the net.

Torrey Mitchell is for real he was all over the place.

Tellqvist played much better than the score indicates. Coyotes got the shaft from the refs on a few brutal calls early when the game was still up for grabs. All in the first period two hits from behind were blatantly missed on Jovo and Mueller and Pavelski got a bs penalty shot call that looked like a great play by Jovo. Really bad reffing.

Nabby picks up a well deserved shutout - he has started every game this season!

Again though this team is waaaaaay too talented to be languishing in the standings like they are. It's possible they still need that #1 go-to guy on defense. I won't go into the coaching situation, everyone is pretty much agreed that is the biggest thing holding them back.

As it stands this team has more than enough young guns to part with some and get a viable veteran on that blueline. Rivet ain't cuttin' it.

This team should be destroying their division...

Ya speaking of young guns and defense, Carle was a healthy scratch again. He is definitely not an RW favorite and could find himself in the minors again like last year. Ozo is taking over his role as the #1 offensive dman on this team.

Not surprising, RW is masterful at alienating young players. I don't think Carle will ever be a #1 d-man but he certainly could be a very capable puckmover on the blueline.

The Sharks effed up royally by trading Tom Preissing.

Meh. Effed up by trading a guy that plays 15-16 minutes a night? Don't think that's really a huge mistake.

Carle is good bait if they can land that established vet d-man they want later in the year. As long as they aren't dumb and move Vlasic, I don't see anything wrong with this strategy.

Carle+Vlasic for Ryder and a 5th?
