So, this is a busy time of the year for seeing bands live. In late September, I kicked it off with a Built to Spill concert, and last weekend I went to two... Tokyo Police Club on Friday and The Weakerthans on Saturday. This weekend is The Thermals... I'm really pumped about this one. Next week there's the chance for two, but I'll probably skip Sunset Rubdown and just go to see local band Junior Pantherz at their CD release show.

I keep talking about going to see Heart with my roommates because we think it'd be pretty badass in a cheesy 80's rock way. But at $44.50 for the cheap tickets I think that's a little much for that kind of entertainment. Laughing

Plus, there's Modest Mouse in November that I've already got tickets for, the Stars are playing a show that I'm interested in but might skip, and then Tool is coming and I pretty much think I have to go. At least that's what Satan keeps telling me.

Modest Mouse is going to fucking rule...although I'm not too impressed with their recent setlists that are posted on the net.

Satan is correct. You MUST go see Tool. Have tix gone on sale yet? I liked them so much last time, I'd go again.

Also - Junior Pantherz - is that named after a Sloan song?

Yes, the Pantherz are named after that Sloan song. They've been around the Saskatoon scene since they were teenagers in the late 90's... they're turned into a very good band.

Hmm... checked Tool tickets out on Ticketmaster. Yep, they're on sale, and I punched in "best available" for any price for 4 tickets and 2 tickets. Both were exactly the same section, right beside each other. I don't know if they're setting up the show as a "half arena" or not. They'd be good if they were a half arena set up. But I have my doubts with Ticketmaster's claims about which seats are the best available. I might go tomorrow to a ticket outlet and hammer out the best arrangement if I can get a couple of friends to commit.

TESLA TONIGHT!!!!!!

I've had these tickets for months. SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

Well I'm a mean machine, I'm the kind you don't wanna meet
My middle name is trouble, I'm a danger in the street
My motor's in overdrive, my pedal's to the floor
I never get enough, I'm always comin' back for more

Here I come, better step aside
I said here I come, oh yeah, well I'm a-comin' at you live
I'm comin' atcha live

The only one you want, I never give a warning twice
Well anything could happen like the rollin' of the dice

Here we come, you better step aside
I said here we come, we're comin' at you live

Comin' at you live - we're comin' atcha live
Comin' at you live - comin' atcha live
Comin' at you live - you better step aside

Saw Van Halen at The Can a couple weeks back...good stuff, Wolfgang is pretty good at that bass and Eddie actually didn't look too bad as compared to some of the recent pics I've seen of him. Really wanted to see Billy Joel but tix for both VH and him were just way too much. Bummer.

The Nebrasquosie wants to see Barlow Girl in the Springs in a couple months...I'm dreading it. They're music's not too bad--I'm just a little prejudiced against happy-cheery born-again Christians and I'll be surrounded by them... Mad

Tesla's actually her fave band. I didn't know they were on tour. Maybe I can get tix for that for her...

I took my 'rents to Billy Joel recently. We had such a great time. He's one of my favorites of all time. He puts on such an amazing show. But, yeah, very expensive. I paid $300 for the 3 of us. We had decent seats. Lower level at HSBC Arena. About center ice. End stage.

I see too many shows to mention here (part of the job/lifestyle) and it's mostly of bands you don't care about, but here's official documented evidence of a recent show:

You've gotta be kidding... His poetry is so depressing it made Baby Jesus cry. I know 'cause I witnessed it.

Rascal Flatts with Taylor Swift last night at GM Place...

GRADE: D

Taylor Swift was amazingly good. If you haven't heard of her yet, and even if you don't like country, check her out - 17 years old, great voice, and writes all her stuff - including her recent number 1 which she wrote in ten minutes for a grade 9 talent competition. She's the next big thing on the female side in country music. Wish I'd have left after her awesome set...

Rascal Flatts - the lead singer had been battling illness earlier in the tour and clearly wasn't at his best. They did 45 minutes of filler at one point, over an hour in total for a 90 minute show. Mostly slow stuff, when the band has made a name with high energy concerts. Plus, neither he nor the sound techs could control his voice all night - missed notes all over the place.

The show last year was way way way better, I actually wish they'd have cancelled, although I do appreciate the effort to make the show go on...

At least they got pelted with bras at one point, that was amusing. Which tells you how boring the concert actually was...

When Keith Urban was here sick, he "took some good drugs", told us he was sick, and proceeded to rock the fuck out of the Orpheum. That's how it's done...

Disappointing to say the least...

Well Razz, from what Tom and Shorty are saying, your pals Rascal Flatts and their show have affected the ice in a negative way. For some reason Edmonton seems to be able to cope with it. Vancouver? Hmm...

I was on my way to rehearsal, wondering why the fuck there were so many people wearing cowboy hats downtown.
