Great to hear that the knee sleeve helps, Hounsy!
Did you rub it in to your buddy at work?
The scoring stats for our team haven't been updated at all. I think Rutz has the gamesheets to do it. Have you got a goal in every game so far? |
Oh yeah I rubbed it in and you can tell it is bothering him, because since 8am he has been in my office every half an hour discussing the game and how it could have been better .
He said that Cujo told him before the game that he thinks we're the best team in the league.
In our 1st 4 games I have 2 goals ( one in each of the last 2 games ) and 2 assists, but who knows how it will show on the stats leaders as I am now # 44 and the 1st 3 games I was #34, which is Steve's numbers, so maybe I 've padded his stats. _________________

We've got some funny numbers on our team. I got #64 on the goalie jersey last year. I started out wearing #48, but that's our big dude's jersey, so I get the #76. I had ordered Larry Murphy's #5, but our teammate who orders the jerseys missed that one. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

5-2 win last night. Good game all around. We had a 4-2 lead and took 2 penalties, putting us down 2 men for the last minute and a half while they pulled their goalie for a 6-on-3. We held up and we had pressure on them in the neutral zone near the end, our single forward on the ice made a diving poke check to put it out of reach of a guy and one of our D picked it up for the empty netter. My bro played well as usual. The first goal he was getting screened by yours truly. I moved across the crease to get back into position and yelled at RW covering deep to move out, but the guy had just shot the puck and it went through the 5-hole. Second goal we had a PP our other D tried to poke check the puck close to their centreman, didn't get it, so I was caught flat-footed inside their blue line and the guy blew by me. I wouldn't have been able to catch him at full speed, let alone starting flat footed.
Scott was nowhere to be found at game time, turns out he was sick. That left us with a paltry 3 full lines and 4 D Much, much better than last year. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

3 lines? Yikes - our forwards would be furious if we had three lines
Of course, it would be much better on our wallets
I've missed the last 2 games ( stomach flu, Pats-Colts conflict )
Although in the last case, I took a bullet off my ankle in Saturday night pickup
and couldn't put weight on it Sunday, so I had a decent excuse... _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

Well, no posts for over 2 weeks, and now I'm double posting
4-1 win tonight (last night) over Maynard Mobile
game was harder fought than the score indicates, and they were better than I remember them being...I think they picked up a few guys
The guy that scored for them is certainly new
His goal was a snap shot from the corner along the goal line to our goalies left
off the crossbar far side and in
I was the D covering him on that one...I thought pushing him to that spot was a relatively sound move
Our goalie played great, especially since their pressure came mostly in spurts
We had 8 of our 9 skaters...I figured our center/d would want to play the 3rd D, but he actually suggested going to our 6 forward, 2 D alignment with him covering D only when necessary ( something I'm a big fan of, when both D have the Wheaties to do so)
I played 2 hours on Sat. night, mostly at forward, and it actually helped me tonight...I played the entire game, and very seldom did I get winded.
That's at least 3 games out of 7 this season I've played the entire game
Not bad for an old fart _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

Last night might have been the worst game that I've seen our team play in the past 3 years. I've seen us play better with 8 skaters and lose 8-1.
The only reason the score was 5-3 with an empty netter was because of my brother. We even had a goal called back on a whistle where the puck was sitting 3 feet away from the goalie. That game had absolutely no business being close after they went up 3-0 initially.
Yours truly got it started with a stupid, stupid, cross-ice passing attempt which hit someone, but luckily ended up out of our zone, but then they got it in after I failed to pinch it off at the boards. They went in 3-on-1 and scored on a nice deke.
Then I was called for one of the worst hooking calls I've ever seen. They score about 7 seconds into the power play. I settled down after the first period and a half, but fuck...
We couldn't connect on passes to save our lives. Couldn't generate any traffic in front with the exception of 2 of the goals. Everyone was throwing it up the middle or right onto the other team's stick. I remember one of our top forwards did it and I heard my brother go "Fuck guys, this is brutal", and he normally doesn't say stuff to his own team like that. He was angry and sticking anyone and everyone within stick range(including guys that we know and play ball hockey with ), which normally gets him fired up and playing better, which he certainly did. We got caught running around in our zone constantly. You make your own luck, and every bounce went their way.
Man, that was friggin bad. Scott, how are you feeling? You didn't come to Neds after... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Last game I played we scored five in the final ten minutes to win 6-5 in what one would of thought before hand was going to be a goalie battle.
The sad part is it seems the only times the games are any fun this season is when I do start off bad as the games open up and gain a flow in both directions once we need to score a few. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

With our team the past couple of years, it was common for us to give up 2 or 3, and roar back to win like 8-3 and 7-4. After 3 goals last night, there was no chance of that happening. I'm still in disbelief that it ended 5-3. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Bosc sums it up perfectly, and besides his brother in nets, no one played well at all.
As Bosc mentioned about passes up the center, guilty as charged!!! Twice in our zone!!! Now I just got back from Edmonton about 2 hours before the game and I'm still fighting the flu, but there is no excuse for my horrible play last night.
Jeff, that's the first time I missed going to Neds as I'm still fighting the flu, I wanted to try and get some sleep. _________________

Someone needs to convince me I do not need to buy a new Brown 2200 C/A just because the price is right.

Well you're definatly the best back up goalie in the league
You were not to shabby against the Rangers
Did he just get this new job? _________________

I dunno, Tim is probably the best backup when he backs up Cujo
Yeah he got it a couple of weeks ago, and starts this week. So I'll be in net on Thursday and playing for him in a tourney in the Shwa on Friday night. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

No idea. I can't remember if he's only working nights, and I don't know what the consistency of his shifts will be like. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

No, kinda reached a point where I thought my equipment was perfect so stopped stashing money for it. But today I see someone bought a JB-2000 C/A for their kid in my size and it doesn't fit so they are selling it off for $360 unused. Think I have to give it a shot at that price. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

what a cluster fuck Sunday night
I know I told everyone in the locker room the game had moved to 8:00
I even called the goalie Sunday afternoon to remind him
I should have made a few more calls
(and why do we call it a locker room, when there are no lockers in it?)
Got a call from our top center at a little after 7:00 asking about the time
followed by "oh, everyone thinks it's 9:30 - I can't make it"
after a flurry of frantic calls, I got 5 skaters...we managed to grab 3 guys from the previous game (no easy trick with a Pats game at 8:00)
Then we commenced to get our asses handed to us 8-4
My old teammate, our opponents captain, jokingly (I thought) asked if we wanted running time prior to the start, so we could all get home quicker.
By the 3rd period, I took him up on it
Nope, you don't have to ask the refs twice for running time _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |
