Let's face it, the Pens are stacked on offense they score a truckload of goals night after night, but it doesn't help when you're goalie gives up a ton of goals as well. And that is exactly what Fleury is doing, there have been many speculations about the Pens looking for a veteran goalie who can keep the fort steady if you will in net. What do you guys think about this? _________________

Ryan Whitney
Sergei Gonchar
Darryl Sydor
Brooks Orpik
Mark Eaton
Robert Scuderi
That is the Pens D-man depth chart.
Fleury could be better, but this team is not built to out defense the opposition. |

Fleury has been adequate at this point in his career. I think (as hounsy points out) that the D isn't the most defensive oriented.
He's the real deal IMO. But I guess my question would be who would you expect the Pens to pick up to do better with what's on the ice? _________________ -UP THE IRONS! |

Sask and I had this conversation before. A little comparable to the Osgood situation in Detroit when they split time with him and Mike Vernon, but rode Vernon to their first cup of two straight cups. I just don't know that there's any viable options out there for right now. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Hounsy raises a fair point. Maybe this team is the one that should've landed Norstrom at the last trade deadline.
But I still say he's hit a wall in his development. Gilles Meloche has some work to do with him.
And yeah, Bosc and I were saying that a vet that he could split with would be ideal. Hell, DiPietro broke into the league splitting with Snow. Thibault was supposed to be that guy, but injuries derailed him so much that he couldn't be of much help. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. I think I posted this in the old board, but I really do think that, based on his play in Florida, if Belfour has an out clause with his Euro contract, he could play half the games or less in Pittsburg and post a winning record.
The best of what's left, at least IMHO.
Of course, we could always trade them Raycroft for Malkin and a second. _________________ (Working in a Call Centre) + (Being a Leafs Fan) = (One HUGE glutton for punishment)

Belfour is a viable option, but unfortunately his rep(warranted or not) of not getting along with younger goalies could kill any interest Pittsburgh might have. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

I would take a donought to relieve Mike Dunham of his so-called "goalie coaching" duties on the Islanders. Not a dozen, just one donought. That's all... _________________ In a country so proud of its democracy, whyare we trying so hard to convince our children that they are little monarchs? |
