I agree; Bertuzzi circa 2001/02 might be the perfect fit for the Sedins offensively right now (rightie, can find the soft spot to the right of the goalie on the PP while the Sedins work the puck to him - remember his famous push off move that the league banned?) but would be a lousy fit in Vigneault's system (can't be bothered to put his stick on the ice in his own zone, never mind actually backchecking). |
Did Bert play RW with Nazzy on LW? Bertuzzi is a left-handed shot. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Bertuzzi's actually a leftie. He did play with the Sedins for a bit that season (when they were still 40-50 point players) to no great effect.

| yeah , Crow double shifted Bert alot , its true , on paper you would think Bertuzzi is the guy , strong down low , takes the puck to the house and decent finish but as J21 says , never clicked. Though that was B.A (Before Anson) .. maybe nowadays it would work. |

| Pierre MacGiure , whom is friends with Recchi , explained Recchi's situation (being healthy scratched lately). Recchi will be traded ASAP , PIerre says by this friday possibly , Recchi has been given permission to make his own trade and has been making calls , Pierre did not name the teams involved. Of course being in Vancouver he was asked if Recchi would consider Vancouver and PM says he has no idea , but on paper would be a great fit here |

But I thought all NHL players wanted to play in Toronto. |

Apparently he's part owner of the Blazers so he still has some connections out here. I have no idea the relations with Vigneault and Recchi back in their day
However , I dont expect Recchi coming west |

Nonis squashed the Recchi possibility this morning by saying he hadnt talked to anybody and doesnt know much about his play of late. Yet keep in mind he said very similar things about Weinrich.
My guess , I think he'll end up in Boston. |

| When you consider the cap hit and his recent production, I think Nonis is smart to pass on Recchi. If you pick him up at the deadline for cheap, maybe you can get a temporary rush out of him without taking up much cap room - if we got him now I think we'd be sick of him by February. |

I was thinking , you know how we most feel Cooke in some way or another is expendable. Just hypothetical from a Canucks persepctive , lets just say Pitts agrees to this but would you trade Cooke for Recchi straight up?
Contracts are similar ( Recch 200K more), both UFA and Cooke probably isnt returning so age isnt a key factor for long term investments, its simply who can help this team more this year. |

| I might be tempted to in that instance, just because I think Recchi would really help the 2nd PP unit. He's still probably not a guy I would actively target, but if he fell into our lap......maybe. |

The Penguins already have the Canucks' last pest. I doubt they'd be looking to reunite them. _________________

I like this trade straight up....as mentioned both could be gone after this year and their salaries are a wash.
The only issue is will Recchi produce living on the west coast given the travel, or would he be platooned similar to Linden to save something for the post season ?
The Nux have a plethora (well certainly a few) of Cooke type players. IMO this would be an opportunity to acquire someone with offensive skills without giving up the farm and, allow some of the other Cooke-type players to earn a spot.
Not to mention the experience and tutoring ability of a guy like Recchi, particularly come playoff time. This would certainly be a good addition nearer the deadline, however will a Recchi be there at the deadline ? |

It would be nice just to have someone on the team that has actually won a cup,I don't think it could hurt the chemistry in the dressing room and I think Recchi would welcome playing close to home and in his own province,I'd pull the trigger on that swap in a second.I also think that Recchis drop off in points this year isn't so much the age factor as it is Pittsburghs glut of talent on their top lines and their inability to find ice time for him.imo He would be a nice addition to the second PP unit. |

| I really like how cookie has been playing of late though. I don't know if a 39 year old recchi is gonna be as effective as cooke with his play right now. I'd rather see a Cooke Morrison package for something more effective and younger than Recchi. |

Two pending UFA's isn't going to get you anything as a package. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

That would have been my point. Cooke's not liable to get you any more than a mid round pick, frankly... |
