I'm butting in here, but I'm a beer league goalie too, and I wear a maltese gel clavicle/throat combo. It's awesome.
I've taken some righteous shots right to the clav and only come away with a minor bruise.
The guy that makes them is very cool, will work with you on specs and mods on your first purchase even, and they embroider your name or initials on the thing for free - which helped a buddy of mine one time when he left his in a dressing room.
I got rid of the dangler as fast as I could and I don't miss the noise, discomfort and the fact that it would rise up as I went up for high shots - leaving my throat/neck exposed.

If you're a Beer League goalie, you're not butting in here I think our Beer League goalies outnumber the beer league F/D on the forum. Welcome to the Beer Hockey Forum!
Nice, I've never seen the Maltese stuff before, but I'm not a gear whore like Hounsy. Thanks for the link.
When I wore a neck guard in minor hockey, I hated the thing. I never minded the throat dangler at all. I've only ever not worn one once when I wore someone else's lid, and I wasn't thrilled with the idea at all. I don't care about the noise, and I haven't really noticed losing sight of any pucks because of it. I've taken enough shots off of it to know I wouldn't go without wearing it. My stick blade got wrapped around my own goalie once while I was taking someone going to the net, and I've seen skates come too close for comfort... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Nice! I've always loved Heaton gear. I've also got two brothers who are goalies and it was like the greatest thing in the world when my older brother got a Heaton trapper when we were younger.
I've got a 590 Roy twig too but it's an old one I use for ball hockey. Wierd curve. A little toe hook.

| no dangler. cant stand them. no chin guard in my lid either. chin to helmet is how I prefer it. nice and easy to flip my lid up and down. i use to wear my neck guard, but it always twisted around on me. I had enough and stitched right to my C/A. Works sweet. dosent bother me anymore and provides the protection where its needed. |

Hmm, I'm not sure if I can get my chin thing out of there to try it without cutting the strap that goes through it, which I don't really want to do unless I know for sure I want to go that route.
That reminds me of how I keep forgetting to cut out that stupid chin strap on my mask. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Okay goalies take over.
Gear I own and use
PAds- Smith 2000
Gloves- Smith 2000
C/A - Brown 2000(first time I noticed that 2000 model name matches the Smith stuff)
Pants - CCM 620 flat face
Cup - MAtrix
Skates - Bauer 3000 or 5000
MAsks - Sportmask T3 and a Quantum
Gerber TPS 7000 sticks
I really like my gear and have a hard time coming up with excuses to get more. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

something very similiar. I want to keep the bus breaking thru the brick wall. My last name is Buss. I'll probly just be switching the logo from a Hurricane to an Old Millwaukee logo. The hot blonde in the gold.
This is our jeresy logo

Nice. I love the 590's. My older bro has 580 pads and the matching gloves, loves em too.
I'm not so much a gear whore. But I love doing shit with sticks and blades, even though I haven't done anything with em for a while. I've picked up enough Synthesis blades off of ebay Soon I'm gonna chop the pretty-much shot blade off of my Richards pro stock, hollow out the end and try to make a tapered shaft out of it to fit the Synthesis blades. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

We tied zero friggin zero last night. In Men's league
The younger bro had about 6 shots, but had to make some really good stops. We pounded them in shots and couldn't put one in. The other goalie played really well. Stopped me on a slap shot with a few minutes left in the third when I pinched in, took a pass and put it a foot off the ice low blocker corner. He was screened to hell and made a toe save _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Another championship! Woo hoo! Nothing like playing roller hockey in freezing temperatures. Hopefully they'll be putting up pics soon on the site, they lost the ones they took of us last time we won. Won the semifinal 7-0 against the team who had beaten us something like 11-2 in the first round, and then dispatched our opponent in the final 7-4. The only low-light of the night was our teammate Pete, who doesn't wear a visor, took a stick to his eye HARD in the first game, it left a nasty little gash on his lid, the eye was almost completely swollen shut right after he was hit, and he went to the emergency room after the game because his vision was blurry and not clearing up. Very scary stuff. I'm glad I wear a half-cage.
On a side note, the last couple weeks have been rather stressful, so it was fuckin' awesome to work all that off at the rink, in fact I'm positive I play better if I'm feeling like crap or under duress of any kind. I'd go insane if I didn't play twice a week. |

wow...OT?
My "good" team won our fall league semi-final game 11-0 last night. It was ridiculous. One of my guys hat a hat trick - on the opening (2 minute- it IS beer league afterall) shift of the game! We split with this team 2-2 in the regular season, and NOTHING about those four games indicated we'd blow them out like that.
It was my first career shutout, but I didn't touch the puck 20 times in the whole game. |
