| This team still won't be able to compete in the FA market nor will they generate enough gate revenues to remain solvent. Sad really. |

Seriously, they make it sound like it's a great thing. They are only guranteed for 3 years, and then what? Start this process all over again when they want to move the team _________________

Yes, the sword of Damocles, the threat constantly looming on the horizon. It's known as "Quebeconomics."
I don't care if that's political, it's a beautiful portmanteau! _________________

This is pathetic. Clearly the shoddily assembled Nashville group doesn't have the money or long-term capital to go through with this. It's a band of merry men with cowboy hats, none of whom with the actual money needed to buy a hockey team at an inflated price, and can't pull the trigger on the deal because they need a bunch of handouts and guarantees. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

Agreed. This is VERY pathetic.
Even if they came up with the money there are exit clauses all over the place that facilitate moving the team.
So why the fuck didn't the league just allow Balsillie's offer that was much higher and didn't call for concessions, wait a year or 2, move the team if necessary and be done with it? |

That would require Bettman and the rest of the league brass to finally admit they made a grievous error in expanding to markets that are not only hockey-friendly, but not really all that sports-friendly either. Won't happen, Bettman will never admit to any of his many blunders unless he gets handcuffed at the ankle in a room with Chris Chelios with only a saw between them. |

He clearly doesn't meet one of the following requirements for purchasing a NHL franchise: thief, launderer, extortionist, fraud, bankrupt, bankrupt, bankrupt, collaborator, knows absolutely nothing about hockey, doesn't already own a franchise, etc... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

The National Hockey League's Board of Governors on Thursday approved the proposed sale of the Nashville Predators to a group headed by Nashville businessman David Freeman. The approval, voted at the League meetings in Pebble Beach, Calif., was forwarded pending the closing of the proposed transaction, which could take place within the next few days.

All but two of the group's nine members are from Nashville. |
