Tim Thomas continues to defy odds. Even with the acquisition of Fernandez Thomas has been spectacular as usual over the past few years. When is he going to be the uncontested #1? _________________ -UP THE IRONS! |

Um, now.
As I predicted, and as Timmy has always done, he is outshining his competition. The only problem last year was fatigue - any idiot could see that a winning record on a bottom feeding team meant that the goalie was pretty damn good...
Harmy I have to say I'm enjoying this. After hearing how laughable it was that Timmy was on par with the vaunted Luongo, and how much better an deeper Vancouver's D is than ours... well... this is simply glorious... |

| The stats don't lie. Our goalie is stopping everything. Your goalie... not so much. |

| That is true. The goals part. The stats part isn't true, stats while not lying can be deceiving. I'm not saying that Thomas isn't playing better than Luongo right now 'cause I think he is, but I am saying that maybe you should base a statement like that on more than just 5 games. Thomas is 33 Luonga is 28. I would say that Luongo has proven himself a bit more at this point. Again, I'm not slagging Thomas, I think he's great, I am however debating your comparison. |

Its a long season my friend. Good start from the B's no doubt but its all about consistency. _________________ -UP THE IRONS! |

Everyone likes Timmy, I thought it was wrong headed to get a goalie as expensive and long-term as Manny to play with him but I understood wanting to get someone to take a bit more of a workload.
As for the B's hot start, good for them, they had a tough road trip and came out with lots of points and more importantly, confidence. I don't think it's out of this world to say the B's will face adversity at some point, we'll see how they (and Julien) handles it.
The B's haven't played a division opponent yet, have they? Guess we'll see you guys on Tuesday for Game 1 of the 32 most important games the B's will play in order to try and make the playoffs.
It's still pretty early to draw any conclusions though... if we compare the NHL schedule to the NFL's, we are just in the first half of Game 2 of the season. _________________ "Oh my God. Oh I'd still take Luongo over Thomas, of course, I just don't think the comparison is as ridiculous as people think. Luongo, if anything, is a tad overrated, though still one of the best 5 goalies in the world. Thomas IMHO is severely underrated...
And yes, 6 games does not make a season. It's still refreshing given that the expectation was 1-5-0 at this point... |

Luongo is better.
Thomas is fine, just unorthadox.
It's a shame that the Bruins had to pay so steeply to get a legitimate BACKUP for Thomas, as he was clearly worn out near the end of last season _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

| Isn't Timmy's deal up this year? Or does he have one more? In any event, good luck selling letting him walk when it is up, even with Rask on deck... |

He has another year left on his contract, basically they've assigned Rask to the AHL for 2 years barring a trade. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. The only thing I'd say is that Luongo took a pretty mediocre team on paper to the playoffs, and Timmah, despite his good play, was still in near lottery pick territory.
Of course its impossible to say just how good the Nucks would be without Luongo, so the point is moot. _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry

True, but you'd get a pretty clear opinion if you took that over to the Nucs forum |
