And trading away Toivonen continues to make less and less sense...

I figure this means Manny is gone for a long time and they don't want Rask sitting in the NHL when he can start in the AHL.

A couple of things to note:

Thomas got injured last night. Apparently, his entire lower body is hurt.

Manny is hurt, as everyone knows. Maybe he had another setback.

3rd/4th stringer Jordan Sigalet had a recent relapse in his MS.

All of these things combined... they definitely could use another goalie.

Sorry, I don't blow Bobby Lou like everyone else in this town. Instead of the "names", how about looking at who is playing the best. .938 SVP going into last night, and the Bruins give up shots like the Leafs give up prospects. Odd time to challenge what little Thomas love there is...

His confidence was done in by the piss poor team in front of him. Soderberg's a solid prospect who pissed the Blues off by not coming across the pond. Both needed new organizations, and both have done well with fresh starts. Tofu has a good D in front of him, and Soderberg has an organization content to watch him develop in Europe.

The curious move was Kalus for broke down Manny. The B's doctors missed a lingering injury in Zhamnov, and Manny himself wasn't 100% confident in the knee in training camp. The question is, why is our medical staff missing that which should be obvious?

Rask > Auld, I would think. Besides, as posted above, with Timmy out we're all of a sudden real thin in net.

Brings up an interesting point - if Tuukka dropped dead tommorrow, we dont' really have any true goalie prospects left. Kevin Regan, Jordan Sigalet, Mike Brown, Adam Courchaine... they project as NHL backups if the stars align. Sigalet is probably the best bet, then Regan, but the former did have that setback, and the latter is still at UNH...

I think Hounsy was assuming that Rask wasn't getting enough games in at the NHL level, and that Auld would be a better fit at the end of the bench from an asset management perspective (grow Rask by playing him lots in the AHL). He didn't know about Timmay's injury.

Is Sigalet playing again, razz?

Gotta check on that, but I think yes. They were doing some renovating at the arena he was in when he went down; the thinking is that the dust is what caused the problem. I suspect he's back, because I haven't heard anything about other goalies being shuffled around. We're really quite thin back there with the top 2 out...

I never challenged that he's playing very well now. However to call him the best in the league, "period" (and in case you're unaware, "period" signifies that nothing more -- including any qualifications -- need be said) is Razzvision™.

I might agree if you could find me one NHL (or AHL or ECHL) general manager who would trade one of last year's Vézina finalists straight up for Thomas. But obviously you won't, even if he was playing lights-out at the moment.

By the way, are you able to take a comment without applying it to the Canucks? Seriously? People being happy with their goaltending does not equal "blowing" a guy, and being happy with a player certainly isn't unique to Vancouver. By your logic, you are "blowing" Tim Thomas right now. And needless to say (but I will anyway), if Luongo wore any other jersey, you wouldn't see it the way you do. That's painfully obvious at this point.

Don't you ever think that all these things... might just be you?

There is sufficient fawning over Luongo for me to make the comment in the context of you, a Canuck fan, taking a swipe at my Thomas love...
