Pittsburgh is so far a perfect 2-0 against Smythe - er - NW Division teams (Calgary, and Edmonton)...
Vancouver is unbeaten against Pittsburgh since Crosby was 13... Since Nov. 2002, Luongo is 11-1-0, 2.05 GAA, and three SO against Pittsburgh...
Anyone know how many points Naslund has against his old team?
It'll be interesting to see Jarrko Ruutu doing his thing against his old team. Maybe all we'll get lucky and he and Cooke can take each other out...
Sounds like Sabourin will start. Let's hope his mojo runs out tonight. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Tennessee Tuxedo was the best penguin of them all.
Though Opus had his moments.

| It appears the Gretzky Rule is being applied for Crosby. You fart at Crosby, you end up in the penalty box. Only in the NHL. |

Sabourin throws his stick in the shoot out & gets away with it ---pretty obvious & no call. Luongo gets outdueled by Sabourin pretty sad really. _________________ Oct 7 4:29pm Hockey - Pending 20.00 to win 330.00

| Razz will tell you it was ridiculous scheduling to have the Canucks play 3 in 4 and have the last one at home....so we should be gratetful. |

It may have been a loss,But this was by far the most entertaining game of the year imo What a great effort by both teams and far more emotion in this game than I would have expected for this matchup
1 and 1 half thumbs up,And the half is only cause of the stickthrowing incident GREAT GAME!!! |

I saw parts of the first period and it was pretty exciting. I wonder if Sykora said "I shot that right into your glove Robby" as he was skating by? No matter, wonderful save and Sykora got it back later...
The Pittsburgh goal was fantastic: An absolute thing of beauty. Two guys flying into the zone, simple drop pass, Malkin floats a perfect saucer pass over 2 sticks a foot and a half off of the ice, lands perfectly on Sykora's stick on the fly and he one-times it right through Bobby Lou's five-hole.
Fuck I wish I could do that. That is simply incredible coordination, timing and pure skill. Man...soccer is the beautiful game? No thanks... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Finally saw the highlights now (last night was my office Christmas party) and this looked like a heart-exploder. Both goalies looked amazingly sharp -- kudos to Sabourin, I'm glad to see him doing well, as I thought he took far too much heat in Vancouver for a guy who largely held the fort and had such a minimal impact on anything.
For the record, I have no problem with Sabourin losing his stick on Daniel's shootout shot. He went for a legitimate poke-check and the stick only came out when Daniel skated into it -- that play happens a fair bit, and usually a penalty shot isn't called on it in regular play.
And agreed, the Sykora goal was remarkable. Very slick. For that matter, Kesler's was a very nice shot, too. He seems to have a thing for goals that ping loudly off the inner iron.
Interesting to see Jarko Ruutu participate in the shootout, and not try his token move. The announcers mentioned he had a number of signs in his support in the crowd -- anyone see any of them?
Also, on that topic, since I'm quick to point out when announcers are annoying, thumbs-up to the Pittsburgh announcers, whose voices appear on the NHL.com highlights. They seem to actually call the game rather than either leading a cheering section or minimalizing the fact that two teams are playing. _________________
