This move will back fire......Kipper will demand a trade. He's saved their bacon ever since he came here. Who the f does Keenan think he is? Last I checked he wasn't the goaltending coach...I thought it was Dan.
And since when did the Media get so fickle in Flamedom? Must be some of those waggoners.......
They should be writing about how wretched Dion has been.....and how shitty Keenan's off season moves were.....Anders Erickson....................ppppppppppppppppppfffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttt. _________________ "Don't think (Stay)

Keenan was a dipshit towards Luongo and actually traded him, remember? Keenas is an idiot when in it comes to goalies, among other things... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

I've always been mystified by Keenan & why he continues to land jobs in the NHL. I guess he's a decent coach, but he seems more of a pain in the ass than anything else.

Other Keenan goaltending victims of irrationality include:
- Curtis Joseph -- run out of town after losing a playoff series and replaced with Grant Fuhr
- Kirk McLean -- his time was up, but knowing Keenan he was moved more out of spite than anything
- Arturs Irbe -- manages a winning record on a terrible Vancouver team and is criticized endlessly
- Dominik Hasek -- well, he may not have been run out of town, but Keenan obviously wasn't interested _________________

To be fair to Keenan (did I just say that), any GM could've made that Hasek mistake. _________________ It's backwards time. |

Yup, they did have Belfour, who had won a Calder, Vezina and Jennings and was easily one of the top goalies in the league while Hasek was a totally unknown NHL commodity. Similar to Kipper's situation in San Jose.
Keenan jerked Belfour around too, didn't he? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

| Kipper's contract is larger than Keenan's (which has a golden parachute sewn into it) so I would tend to believe Kipper will outlast Iron Mike if things were to melt down. At this point Kiprusoff is over-thinking some of his positioning and it's leading to some hesitation. There is always a bit of a backward slide before a proper adaptation to new stuff that Marcoux is introducing. He'll work through this. Keenan knows this and has said as much, despite the press' reluctance to include that part of the quote. |

I thought Kipper looked strong last night in the period/period and a half I saw. Those elements I mentioned in another thread of his seemed to be back (good starting/base position; following the puck). _________________ It's backwards time. |

Yup, he looked good from what I saw as well. That Malkin shot was fantastic. Shorthanded break was the other goal and Malone just out-waited him and made a nice shot too. Kipper made an awesome save on a screen tip at some point.
Old man Gary wanted to drop em with Dion and lay an old man strength beating on him. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

| While Kipper has been human of late, the majority of the blame should fall squarely on the shoulders of that horrid defense. The only team that plays worse in their own zone is, well, the Avs... |

By golden parachute, I am referring to the length of Keenan's contract. Pure speculation on my part, but the feeling is that Keenan and Sutter knew this was a high-risk hiring for both parties. We were willing to go this route because we needed to sign a high-profile coach to show some credibility in order to extend our FA's (who have had to endure the guidance of barn-burners like Greg Gilbert, Don Hay, Pierre Page... you can even lump Playfair in there) and put us in the national media eye a bit more.
I am not convinced Keenan has been good for our overall development. We are shooting more, but our PP and team defence has gotten softer. This could all be transitory and if the team gets into the playoffs at full stride, everything will be forgiven.
But to bring it back to the Harmy's original point, Keenan should probably get off Kipper's back or the Midas free-fall could happen sooner than later. |

I don't think Keenan's teams have ever been known for their commitment to defence nor competence at special teams, have they? _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Oh man. The last guy you hire in order to show credibility to your pending UFAs is Keenan. No playoffs in 10 years is not credible. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!
