Tonight's episode of "How I Met Your Mother"

Robyn, on her date with her co-worker (sportscaster) at a Rangers game: "It was great! Afterwards, we got to go into the dressing room and we met Mason Raymond!"

...blank, confused expressions from her friends

Robyn: "Left Winger for the Vancouver Canucks!"

Laughing

I just read this on two other forums -- what a random sitcom moment for U.S. television! Laughing

Apparently the actress who delivered that line is from Vancouver, so I imagine she had some input. (I've never seen the show, but I believe her character is likewise a Vancouverite, or so I've read).

Apparently the punchline of this little sequence was, "What's the opposite of name-dropping?" Poor Mason, the butt of a TV joke before even his first NHL goal... Laughing

The show has become my favourite on TV... I'm not sure if she's a Vancouverite (on the show), I just thought she was referred to as a generic "Canadian". Hell, with a last name like Sherbatsky she could be from Saskatchewan. Laughing

I loved the absolute enthusiasm she had when she said his name. My not completely hockey obsessed roommate looked at me when the name was said, and I was like "yeah, that's a real player... about as obscure as you can get".

I really hope there's a Youtube out there somewhere... or is the show popular enough to be archived somewhere in the BitTorrent world, you think?

I'd think it'd be on BitTorrent... it's in its third season, and the show is pretty internet savvy. This is the show that brought the world the "Robin Sparkles" video that was really popular on the net last year.

thats pretty cool!! post it up if you guys ever find it. I know of the show , dont watch it though.

You guys ever watch '2 guys , a Girl and a Pizza Parlor' ? Ryan Reynolds stars in that , a Vancouver boy , (he use to work at Superstore on Gandview) , if you look at the back wall , he has a small framed picture of a hockey goalie in yellow and black .. .I dont actually know this for fact but I think its Richard Broduer.

So both Isbuster and Luongo will not dress against Anaheim. I'm surprised about Jaffrey over Rypien, I thought for sure AV would bring him back so he could play 5 minutes before severing an artery and go back on IR. Not that calling Jaffrey isn't good. During the preseason he did everything he was asked and played center due to injuries. He played out of position since Jaffrey is a left winger and that probably hurt his chances of sticking with the Canucks. Down with the Moose he was scoring and fighting before he got hurt. Jason deserves a chance with the big club and on the top 2 lines to see what he's made of. It would be stupid if AV puts him on a checking line and puts Cooke on a scoring line.

And Raymond, now that he's a household TV name.

Has Burrows been knocked out of the Canucks lineup as well? Calling up this many from the farm usually implies injuries or a slump and the coaches want to shake things up. Or a possible trade in the works? Last night's game wasn't great but no time to hit the panic button. So there must be an injury bug biting the Canucks right now. They're staying quiet on Burrows and Isbuster.

Skrastins was the guy who passed the torch to Morrison. Not sure who now.

BMo hadn't missed a game since the Clinton administration.

OK, as of February 9, 2007, this is what the list looked like:

Karlis Skrastins D COL 487
Brendan Morrison C VAN 485
Cory Sarich D TBAY 361
Andrew Brunette LW COL 343
Miroslav Satan RW NYI 287
Brendan Shanahan LW NYR 280
Olli Jokinen C FLA 268
Jay Pandolfo LW NJ 256
Brad Richards C TBAY 255
Sami Pahlsson C ANA 248

Has Sarich missed any time since then?

BTW, read an interesting asterisk to Morrison's streak: he was injured in Game 4 of the 2000 playoffs, but the Canucks were knocked out, so it was a moot point. Mind you, I don't think playoff games are usually counted with these things.

Drag that it's at the expense of Mo but I saw AV this morning and he said his first thought was to put RAymond and Jaffray with Pyatt. Works out very nice for the two of them not being put into a grinder role. A year in the waiting to get to see Jaffray in the Whale kind of a drag cause my son is going to Winnipeg this weekend to skate with some of the Moose and those two were slated to be there.
