Ryder drops to 3rd line and Dandenault will take his place on the 1st line with Higgins and Koivu.

It was on TSN.

This can't be true, can it?

Believe it, first Streit, now Dandy.

Lecavalier will not be centering that line.

Yeah, it's true. Don't know why they'd put Higgins with such scrubs. And why is Ryder getting rewarded with a good centre?

Could you imagine if our PP was struggling what solutions would be thought of? Bouillon as PP quarterback? A 5 d-man setup?

The Habs look bad again so far. At least the Lightning's shots aren't getting through right now.

The Habs' breakout is non-existent. Evil or Very Mad

More important than this game is the rumour Bob McKenzie mentioned and the RDS crew picked up on: Marleau for Koivu and Ryder.

I know it sounds stupid (especially for the Sharks), but their explanation was slightly credible:

1. Marleau has been awful (much worse than Saks), and is unhappy
2. Rivet loves Saks
3. Demers and Brunet theorize that Gainey and cie. have found their next Saku in Plekanec, and there are no friends in hockey. They don't feel any loyalty beyond treating him with respect as they book his flight to the Bay
4. It's possible Ron Wilson doesn't like Marleau, and Wilson is the crazy
5. Both teams have been disappointments thus far, and have a good working relationship (meaning they appreciate what we are so quick to discard)
6. If it happens, I have the appropriate dancing music.

I think I smell like booze. Is there any way to get rid of the smell? I have people coming home soon.

I don't like discussing trade rumors anymore. Trades don't happen anymore unless it's the deadline or the draft. I'll talk fits of other players, but that's about it.

Kovalev just scored while breaking his stick. 1-0 Habs. Yep, another PP goal.

I agree with you, nobody hates pointless shit starting conversations more than I, but I cite relevance because it's the first Habs trade rumour I've heard in recent memory with teeth, and this game is painfully boring.

Habs making another below average francophone goalie look good.

'Tis true. I expected too much, I suppose.

from spector:

http://www.spectorshockey.net/rumors.html

Quote:
11 DECEMBER 2007.

**UPDATED 8:30 PM AT**

HABS-SHARKS TALKING TRADE?

HABS INSIDE OUT: Montreal Gazette sports columnist Mike Boone reports of rumours the Canadiens and San Jose Sharks might be talking trade. Boone cites TSN's respected hockey commentator Bob McKenzie as suggesting Habs GM Bob Gainey is talking to Sharks GM Doug Wilson, kicking about a Saku Koivu and Michael Ryder for Patrick Marleau and Steve Bernier swap.

CKAC RADIO: reports the possible deal could be Koivu and Ryder for Marleau or for Bernier and Joe Pavelski.

FANATIQUE.CA: also reports on this possible trade and that Koivu, Ryder, Francis Bouillon and Jaroslav Halak and Bernier and Kyle McLaren are being bandied about.

**UPDATE**: Bob McKenzie made no mention of a potential Habs-Sharks deal during the opening segment of tonight's TSN's Canadiens-Tampa Bay Lightning game.

Spector's Note: Hat tip to Jean-Phillipe Parent and "Richard" for the links. This rumour has popped up quite quickly in the mix, but I still have strong doubts as to the validity, no offence to McKenzie. The Habs could use a shakeup, and if Koivu is asking to be dealt it could be possible, but Koivu has been very loyal to the Habs and the city of Montreal for a long time, and Gainey stated last summer his intent was to build around Koivu. Second, Marleau's new two-year, $12.6 million contract with a "no-trade" clause kicks in next summer, which is a lot of money to gamble on a player who's struggling this season, leading to some whispers that he's a spent force. Bernier and Pavelski have been struggling out of the media spotlight in San Jose, so I don't see them improving in a fishbowl existance that is the life of a Canadien. Third, deals like this rarely leak out in public, so approach this one with caution. If Bob McKenzie wasn't reporting this, I wouldn't put any stock into it, but he is connected, reliable and respected, so if he's suggesting the two teams are talking trade, I wouldn't dismiss it outright. As for involving those aforementioned players, we'll have to wait and see.

Pierre Maguire: "This game is not boring."

If you have to say that, then it is boring.

To be fair, the game has picked up after it was 1-1.

And if Spector/Eklund/Your Mom reports on it, then it must not be true.

There will be no trade.

And I'll blame the ice on the Roy goal. O'Byrne messed up his little spinorama.

Yeah. And perhaps that moment, you know, André freaking Roy scoring on us to give Tampa the lead, is the low point of the season.

You would have thought getting shut out by Jocelyn Thibault was, or blowing a 5-2 lead with 7 minutes to go on home ice would be. So you never know.

Yeah, booing your top checking centre seems a bit misguided.
