Another ugly effort by the Wild, who were completely exposed as unable to overcome a physical attack by the Sharks.
This team needs a leader, someone to stand up in the room and demand accountability from the rest of the team. And they need to identify him soon. |

Saku's available... but we'll likely only move him mid-season if we got a #1 centre in return (or as part of a sepearate deal).

Some Wild fans think Mikko's the second coming. To be fair, he was our best all-around player this season until he got hurt.
If the Habs consider either Pierre-Marc Bouchard or Benoit Pouliot (or both, for that matter) #1 center material, then I'd swap both of them for Saku right now.
Saku's making $4.75M (same cap hit), and is under contract through 08-09.
Bouchard is making $2.6M but is a RFA after this season.
Pouliot, a former #4 overall pick, just can't find his groove with us it seems. He languished as a winger on a bad AHL team last season, and they converted him to center (ostensibly to play between Gaborik/Demitra if he pans out) in camp this year to some success. But then they sent him back to Houston to start the season where he pouted and then called him back up and he did nothing in three games. Then, upon his return to Houston he got hurt and has only recently come back to the lineup. He COULD be one of those guys that just needs a new systen and change of scenery to blossom...or he could be Daigle. |

I see your point, but it's made a tad ironic by the fact that Daigle played some of his best NHL hockey in Minnesota.
PMB as a Hab? I think Erik just fainted.
I was kidding of course about trading Mikko for Saku, obviously if the Wild were to trade for one Koivu brother they'd want to keep the other, IMO it would be a good idea. I certainly would do a Saku-for-PMB-and-Pouliot deal if I were either Risebrough or Gainey. |

Good points all around. I would love to see Saku and Mikko on the same team - as long as it's the Wild.
The Wild fans are pretty split on PMB.
He's got great vision and can stickhandle like Datsyuk. But he's WAAY too easily knocked off the puck to actually carry it across the blue line. And he NEVER shoots (which is good since he's got a pretty limp shot). So you've got a guy who virtually ONLY passes, and who you can check right into submission - just put a body on him and mark up in the rest of the o-zone and he's nullified. (I guess it's pretty obvious which side I'm on with him, eh?) |

I wonder what Saku would think of playing under Tremblay again. 
It's hard to see if there's a deal to be had, but I definitely do think Saku is on the block. Maybe not until the trade deadline, though.

Shep's a keeper IMO. To me, he's everything we hoped Pouliot would be by now. He's even dropped his purse already (he fought former Wild Adam Hall after he rocked Hall on a clean open-ice hit). |

There were some rumors about Risebrough hooking up with his old club on a deal last trade deadline too. PMB being Quebecois certainly helps fuel the fire. |

In all seriousness, Pouliot is incredibly skilled, but a notorious slacker. He got bored in junior and stopped competing. He got the shaft at the WJC and sulked to the finish line. Probably isn't enjoying moving back and forth from the AHL.
He can skate, score and hit, and could likely handle the rigours of being a centre, but changing his position is a recipe for disaster. I could definitely see him not clicking with Lemaire.
Mikko is the second coming. Don't move him.
Saku doesn't strike me as a good fit for the Wild. I think a big, two-way centre with solid hands and faceoff skills would work better.
