Lose to the league's worst road team at home when they're playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, a night after they get blown out, and against a goalie without a win this year.
And if anyone says "they battled back" for that point, let me remind you that the team was absolutely pathetic in the 3rd and had given up until O'Brien (something was wrong with Irish d-men tonight) gave the team a gift. And even then, it was fleeting. They got a couple good chances in the next couple of minutes, and then did next to nothing in OT, got a PP on a lazy play by Prospal, and couldn't even come close to burying a winner.
They can't win a game when it's handed to them by all the forces the Bell Centre can muster up.
This team finds as many ways to lose a game as there can be.
What's so frustrating is that you can't pinpoint the problems of this team on one overwhelming issue. And what's worse, is that the team shows no signs of the ability to turn it around.
The motions are the same, the results are the same.
Saku's spent. He can't compete in the role we need him to be in.
Do I still believe?
No. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

Gee sask - is it my turn to remind you that this is a young team
EDIT - in answer to the question - it's time to start considering trading our prospects for proven talent. _________________ The fans represent the soul of the organization. This is their team. Time to consider trading our proven talent for prospects.
Cap be damned, a creative GM is going to figure out how to get it done. Gainey and BriseBois are trying to work it out.
We need a big top-2 centre.
We need a veteran defenceman.
We need Ryder and Breezer to slip in the shower. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

Do we need another veteran d-man, E.L.? We'll just play them as a forward.
Anyways, it was well reported that Kevin Lowe was in attendance. Any Oilers strike your guys' fancy? Stoll and Torres have both been in the doghouse recently... _________________ "Oh my God. By vet defenceman, I mean the guy we should have picked up instead of Breezer.
I have no qualms about Dandy and Streit taking their lumps on the blueline, but the Habs seem ready to move on in that regard.
Torres and Stoll are the two guys I like. Are Pouliot and Schremp on the block/going to amount to anything? I didn't realize how well Horcoff has been playing.
I don't think we match up well with the Oil trading-wise. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

The Oil might want one of our vet d-men, so it's worth some consideration. Don't know if they're prepared to gamble on Ryder or anything.
No idea what the word is on Schremp... as he isn't even getting considered for callups, I'd assume he'd be avilable pretty cheap. Pouloit hasn't looked that good in the NHL from what I've seen.
I think both Stoll & Torres were on that '03 Bulldogs squad, although we don't have many players from that team left (Ryder, Plex, and Komisarek I think are all we got, and Ryder's on his way out).
Mathieu Roy was recently waived... he's had major injury problems, though.
I think the Oil are right at the 50 player contract limit, so any deal with them would at least be 1 for 1, or even 1 for 2. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Yes. But they aren't true, so this is just an exercise. Koivu's done as a #1 pivot, and it's become increasingly clear that Koivu will have to be the sacrifice made to improve in this regard.
BTW, Brisebois is also hurt, day-to-day, and Huet is accompanying the team to Philly. Bare bones crew going to Philly... no healthy scratches, but 3 goalies. _________________ "Oh my God. I'm seriously not so sure the SJ/MTL rumour is totally bunk (or debunked if you will). Marleau is playing horribly this year. Saku is considered finished on this Habs squad, but as Craig Rivet and countless others have proven, leaving the city can have a revitalizing effect.
As far as I can gather, Ron Wilson doesn't like Marleau, and Marleau doesn't like his reduced role on the team.
Saku is done being a top-flight player on the Habs, but he still has the hands and quickness (he's certainly not a fast skater, but he's shifty), so there's no reason to believe he can't be a 75 point 2nd line centre elsewhere. Hell, he got 75 points playing with scrubs last year, maybe a better situation can result in 80-85 points for him.
This is a situation worth observing. Marleau is the kind of player you simply have to take a chance on, even if you're not paying immediate dividends. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

This trade has some logic to it. Saku is a fit-to-bill 2nd line center, and I'm thinking Marleau wants to be a 1st liner. I don't think Saku wants to be in Mtl anymore, but I wonder about Marleau's ability to handle the fishbowl...
Koivu would thrive in SJ, and I think he would post better numbers than Marleau would in Mtl. However, I think Marleau will help this team win more games than Saku can. _________________ The fans represent the soul of the organization. This is their team. Us, we simply try to make it better.
