Goalies and Defense:

Leland Irving, backup goalie for the 2007 team, is not returning. Bernier and Steve Mason(Columbus draft) of the London Knights are the two tenders, and apparently this did not come as a great surprise.
Detroit draft pick Logan Pyett makes the team and will be an alternate captain. Not sure when Brendan Smith was cut but he was. He'll still be eligible for the team next season.
Forwards:

Cory Emmerton(Det draft pick), recently dealt from Kingston to Brampton, was sent home with mono. Shawn Matthias, who Detroit dealt in the FatBert deal, is ripping up the O and made the team. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Bernier & Mason were both way better than Irving in the Super Series, so no, it was simply a status quo situation from the most recent evaluation.
Habs' pick P.K. Subban continues to deliver on his own lofty expectations. He's as flashy a personality on the ice as he is off the ice, and while he didn't make the Habs out of his first NHL training camp like he said he would, he's not far away from the NHL and he's still only 18. He's a potential impact player and I can't wait to see what he brings to a high level of competition like this.
Luke Schenn (draft eligible '08) becomes the first Saskatoon born and raised member of the world junior team since 1975... it's been a long, long time.
Gillies has taken a bit of a step up this year since the Summit Series... hopefully he takes another after this one, as the Blades suck big time and need a saviour. _________________ "Oh my God. Absolute joke. Zach Hamill is better than half those forwards, and Andrew Bodnardchuk had been the best d man in the Q this year, period.
Fuck the coaching staff, I hope this team falls flat on it's face... |

Especially that oaf Marchand.
Geez, do you really think they were cut because they were Bruins?
And where'd you slip in a reference to Hockey Canada being anti-Q all of a sudden? You used to think the best d-man in the Q would be lucky to crack the Swiss' junior squad. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. Tough to cut a pick as obvious as Marchand.
It's actually the Q forwards I've been on about; the thesis being that even a plumber could score 50 in that shootout of a league. Because the NHL has gone all "skill", the Q version of the game has become more relevant, and the W version less so.
Bodnardchuk should have been there, period. Hamill is young but Christ he won the scoring title playing for a trap maniac. It burns me when our prospects are unjustly deprived of an opportunity to develop further by being challenged against their peers, while some lesser prospect gets that chance... |
