In the front half of the season Mike Babcock has decided not to play Chris Chelios in the back end of back to back games. Chelly is not altogether pleased with the decision but I think Babcock is being smart in this case. We need Chelios late in the season and in the playoffs, not so much now. Why risk injury? Derek Meech witll take his place in the lineup. Chris Osgood will start in net. Kris Draper will play his second game after returning from a sprained knee last night.

RW - absolutely. Chelios is a huge advantage for us down the stretch and into the playoffs. It is partly ego and partly the fact that Chris doesn't want to lose his "edge", that makes Chris upset.
Geesh..you'd think he would see that after all his years! _________________ No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. |

The thing is... Chelios is in ridiculously good shape, and probably actually could play those games. This is just a cautionary measure based on age, not the actual shape he's in. That's what pisses him off. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? You're right. Actually he could use that time off to run up to the peak of Mount Everest, bicycle to San Francisco and back and compete in the triathalon. you know...his usual stuff. _________________ No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. |
