I tried for the life of me to find a comprehensive report on all of Hatchers viscious hits, injuries to other players and suspensions in his career. I googled the subject to death under several headings and - nothing.
So I am posting this with no difinitive data to back it up. Darian Hatcher has always been a viscious, nasty player, in my opinion. In the late 90's when he was with Dallas, my friends and I would refer to him as the S.S. Comandant.
It doesn't surprise me in the least that he now resorts to even lower tactics to inflict injury. He is scum. Period.

For what it was worth, the Richards contract was a fun Flyers debate. We're just sick of these ones with the Flyers.
It's sad no one is talking about Nittymaki's 50+ save performance vs. the Leafs that night, but that's what such incidents can do.
For the record, if it wasn't the Flyers, or Downie, or on HNIC, this type of cheapshot wouldn't get much ink. Hell, Avery did something similar last week and even with it being Avery it didn't get a lot of discussion.
As a stand alone incident, this is cheap, but I can think of much worse actions... The hysteria over this one is definitely the result of piling on.
