They're sending Mike Weber back down to Rochester in anticipation of Spacek being back on Thursday in Boston.
| Quote: |
Defenseman Mike Weber was returned to Rochester. He played well for a 19-year-old in his first month as a professional. He totaled three hits, two blocked shots, one giveaway and an even rating in more than 21 minutes. |
Sekera will stay up (oh, joy ) until a decision is made about Nolan Pratt.

Signed Nolan Pratt to a one-year-deal. Proably won't play tonight. Spacek will be back.
| Quote: |
| Pratt had one goal and seven assists last year in 81 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning and was on Tampa Bay's 2004 Stanley Cup championship team. |

Oh yeah, when might Vanek's head be surgically removed from his rectum? Really, the kid is KILLING me in the OTP hockey pool.
Wow, Nolan Pratt. Haven't heard that name in a while. I thought he was still with TB. |

So, in case you didn't know. I'm a little late on this. Spacek reinjured his shoulder and Pratt pulled his groin.
So they called Mike Weber back up and there's Sekera.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
Just found this article. I've been so busy I haven't heard any news.
Sabres Tim Connolly, Adam Mair out indefinitely with injuries
| Quote: |
| Coach Lindy Ruff said Tuesday that both will be out after Connolly strained his abdomen and Mair sprained his right ankle in a 2-0 loss at Montreal a day earlier. Ruff said Connolly would "miss some time," but was more concerned about Mair's injury, saying the gritty fourth-line player will be out for weeks. |

but won't play thursday.
| Quote: |
| The center tested his injured oblique muscle in HSBC Arena, and the Sabres were hopeful Connolly would be able to play Thursday in Ottawa. He's not yet ready, though, and coach Lindy Ruff ruled him out. Connolly hopes to play Friday when the Sabres host Montreal. |

Let's see. Stafford played against St. Louis. Andrew Peters was out with the flu. Sekara played.
Roy got hurt (bruised foot) in the Blues game. Mair is close to coming back.

Injury news all positive for Sabres
| Quote: |
Center Derek Roy, who missed Thursday's skate with a foot injury, returned to the ice in HSBC Arena |
| Quote: |
| Center Adam Mair, who has been out almost a month with an ankle sprain, practiced fully and could probably play if needed. Defenseman Dmitri Kalinin, who has been out since hurting his knee in the previous meeting with the Hurricanes on Oct. 24, will skate with the Sabres on Saturday morning. |

Paille gets crunched by Sens’ Volchenkov
| Quote: |
| The 232-pound defender stepped in and buried his shoulder into Paille’s jaw. Paille dropped instantly, his helmet hitting the ice just 11:41 into the game as the fans groaned, “Ohhh.” |
| Quote: |
| “I don’t know his status for sure,” said coach Lindy Ruff. “He’s got a sore neck. Obviously he was a little dizzy after that hit. He took a heck of a hit.” |

Miller will play tomorrow.
Afinogenov re-injured his groin.
Spacek and Stafford practiced and should play.
Patrick Kaleta was apparently sent to Rochester but might be right back here if Max can't play.

Vanek, Roy, Hecht and Gaustad all missed practice. The flu from hell is making its way throught the locker room.
Four forwards conspicuous by absence
| Quote: |
The Sabres practiced Friday in the Amherst Pepsi Center, but four players were conspicuously absent. Thomas Vanek, Derek Roy, Jochen Hecht and Paul Gaustad were unexpectedly sidelined. They are merely the Sabres’ hottest scorer and top three centers.
“Today was not a day off for anybody,” a terse and agitated Lindy Ruff said. “You can assume that the guys that weren’t here were either sick or nursing some type of ailments because it wasn’t optional.” |
Mike Ryan will apparently out of a while. Afinogenov is skately lightly.
| Quote: |
One player Ruff gave a clear diagnosis on was Michael Ryan, who strained his groin Thursday and was expected to stay off the ice.
“Michael is the worst of our group,” Ruff said. “I’ve got him in the category it’s going to be weeks before he plays.” |
They also made a call up.
| Quote: |
The Sabres will welcome a new face to the team today. Marc-Andre Gragnani was called up from Rochester on Friday night, and he is expected to make his NHL debut.
Gragnani, a 20-year-old native of Montreal, was the Sabres’ third-round pick in the 2005 entry draft. The Americans moved him from defense to left wing in January, and the switch has worked extremely well. The 6- foot-1, 180 pounder has an eight-game points streak, scoring three times and adding six assists. |

Hecht is out with a groin pull now.
Hecht won't play against Canadiens
Afinogenov and Stafford have been cleared but still might not. _________________

Gragnani was an absolute beast in junior. Most scouts said Vlasic was the better overall prospect, but Gragnani was a close second. Actually most scouts said the Val D'Or three were the best (Letang, Bourdon, Bisaillon), but Vlasic and Gragnani were pretty comparable as players, especially in the leadership department (although Vlasic is more defensive while Gragnani could jump into the rush more often).
Hard to say who I would compare him to. He has a great first pass and even though he's not in-your-face physical, he's plays tough and is well rounded. He's an average skater with decent size.
Edit: Wha? He's a forward now? That's completely retarded. _________________ The Love Guru is a comedy like the Leafs are a hockey team. - G&M's Rick Groen

Tallinder injures shoulder/neck on hit from behind
| Quote: |
The victory came with a price. Defenseman Henrik Tallinder was hit from behind into the boards by Scottie Upshall with 3.4 seconds to go in the first period. The defenseman’s shielded face crashed into the boards, and he immediately went to the ice. He lay face down, motionless before being attended to by athletic trainer Tim Macre.
The defenseman, who was helped off the ice by Jason Pominville and Derek Roy, looked dazed. He closed his eyes and stumbled backward while heading to the dressing room.
“We don’t know yet [how bad he is],” Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. “He’s got shoulder and neck [problems], and he’s hurting a little bit. He won’t play [tonight].” |
I'm assuming Kalinin will be back in tonight. He was benched last night. I'm going to post that story in another thread. _________________

They sent Clarke MacArthur back down probably because Jochen Hecht will be back Saturday against Carolina.
He has 8 goals in 37 games but only 1 in the last 9. _________________
