Who haven't looked too mangy since they acquired Bryzgalov. The Great One's team have won 4 in a row and 5 of their last six on the road, having moved one game above .500, a true standing since the 'Yotes have no SOLs or OTLs and therefore no Bettman Bonus Points for coming in second after regulation time. They have 34 pt in 33 games and sit 12th in the West, 5 pt out of 8th and the final playoff spot. They hold games in hand over most of the teams ahead of them in the standings. Their home record is not good, 5 wins 8 losses at the ? arena in Glendale. Shane Doan leads the team in scoring with 26 pt, Radim Vrbata leads the team in goals with 13. Bryzgalov sports a .922 save % with a 2.31 GAA.
Canucks are 5th in the West with 42 pt after 35 games. Luongo is on top of his game right now since returning from injury. There is a strong possibility the 'Nucks are looking past this game and the match with Colorado tomorrow which would be a massive mistake. While Phoenix is playing well, they have just returned from a 6 game road trip and teams usually suffer a letdown their 1st home game back. Being that Gretzky prefers to play a more open style of play, if the Canucks take this one seriously and play sound defensively, the 'Yotes could be subject to counter attacks since they will most likely less than sharp during the first part of the game.
I predict 3-1 Canucks. |

Good one Mr. P!
I agree that the Nucks better not take the Coyotes for granted. These guys have tasted Win and they aren't just going to roll over now that they have got the taste of it. Much like a real coyote and the taste of road runner.
Beware the smoking ACME package...

A lot of action for a scoreless game, but a lot of missed shots for both teams... Daniel came close there. _________________

Great game - should have ended a tie... both teams fought hard.
Nice to finally win a shoot out though.

We need to get more shots on net on the PP but, other than that, fabulous game.
Great to finally win the extra point in the shootout.
Trevor (Clutch) Linden.........what can I say?
It was fun watching Jovo do his thing again.
He seems to have found a good home.
Gretzky likes pinching defencemen.
Looks like the Coyotes have finally found the real deal in goal.
If he stays this solid they could be dangerous with their offensive style.
Fun team to watch. |

Coyotes were full value for their point -- they were the better team on the night.
Both regulation goals were quite pretty, but man, what a seeing-eye pass by Shane Doan on the Phœnix goal. That was as pretty as they come (except the Joe Thornton special). One of the bad parts of the imminent resurgence of the Phœnix Coyotes is that it probably means he's off the trading block, if he were ever on it. _________________

True.
It's a shame the media will claim they 'lost the game'.
It shows disrespect by both the league and media by assuming hockey fans are too thick to grasp the concept of a tie in allowable time followed by an 'extra' point shootout, and shows no respect for an equally fine game by the 'losers'.
The CBC is running a poll asking how the league could/should increase scoring. It sometimes boggles the mind, especially after a performance like last night.
I've seen many high scoring games that showcased much less entertaining hockey. |
