Why is this significant, you ask(or not because this is the Panthros forum after all)?
This is the kid that we traded in the fatass Bertuzzi deal last year.
I'm not sure how highly regarded he was in the organization at the time of the trade, but he didn't seem to be one of the top-regarded prospects. Since then, he's torn apart the O, played very well in a significant role for the Canadian Juniors, and is already up early for the Panthers.
Friggin hell. Detroit typically doesn't get the big guys with good skills simply because they're gone by the time our scouts get to pick. We draft the guys who definitely have skills who are smaller instead of going after the big-sized projects. Unfortunately, it seems that we may have traded away one of the few we get, but of course it still remains to be seen what kind of player he goes on to be...
