I totally agree with #1 |
I thought it was the Eastern-biased media? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Oh, it's a totally Eastern bias media. How dare they pick a team from the East to finish first in the Eastern Conference. _________________

This sounds familiar:
| Quote: |
| 8. Markov, Komisarek and Roman Hamrlik: Okay, they're not the Big Three of Larry Robinson, Serge Savard and Guy Lapointe, but New York Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro recently said Markov and Komisarek are the best defensive pairing in the East. As for Hamrlik, he is a definite upgrade on Souray as a defensive player and also serves as a mentor for young players like O'Byrne and Josh Gorges. |

Well, I don't think many people deny it. Razz excluded,of course. |

I think Chara and Widemoan are poised to be the best top 2 in the league! _________________ The crowd once again showed its IQ level when it shouted ``U-S-A, U-S-A,'' during the fight. Their hero, Downie, is from Newmarket, Ont. |

This is the fastest team in the league, and by far the best passing team in the league. Even our losses have been entertaining ones.
Yeah, Komisarek and Markov are the East's best pairing, but let's give some props to Francis Bouillon and Josh Gorges, who have been loyal and very responsible foot soldiers this year. Remember how much trouble we used to have getting the puck out of the zone, or protecting the area around our net? Those days are long gone.
We have 6 players with 50 points, and we'll end the season with 7. We'll end the season with at least 10 guys with double-digit goals.
The scary thing is we're also one of the youngest teams in the league. Kovalev an Koivu will eventually step aside, but as a whole this team is going to get even better in the next few years.
I remember saying they would finish 5th in the conference, and we all knew the talent was there. I don't even think Carbo and Gainey thought the young guys would step the way they have. Or that Kovalev would finally live up to his potential...at 35 years old! _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!

Well, E.L., we are talking for years about the "bright future". The future is now, that much is true. Plus there are some kids coming up in the next years. I don't have the chance to watch any minor league or junior games but what I read about our young guns is promising as well.
And not to forget that the Price/Halak experiment seem to work. |

This is indeed proving to be a fun year. What shocks me is not the talent nor the depth of prospects - it's the consistency. And for that, I put Carbo and Gainey at #1. These guys were the epitome intensity while staying cool under pressure and their style of governance is the same. Where would Kovy be without Gainey's calmness in not dumping him last year or during the offseason when many were screaming for blood? Not to mention his "walk in the park" with Kovy. Or his balls to draft Price (Brule!!!!). Or Carbo's ability to get the most out of his vets and his development of the youth - anyone remember the screams of the Rivet for..who?
In this case - the credit starts at the top IMHO.
Honourable mention - Andre Savard. _________________ The fans represent the soul of the organization. This is their team. Us, we simply try to make it better. Enjoy it while it lasts, the crash will be magnificent...
I conceded Montreal would finish #1 over a month ago to my Hab fan Crown colleague in Surrey. He was amused, but pointed out it didn't really matter unless they did something in the playoffs...
I should get him to sign up, a dose of reality would be good around these parts... |

Should you or I direct him to the Bruins board then?
I tell ya what, if we crash it will be magnificent, because in all logic the Bruins shouldn't survive a first-round matchup against the Habs.
I almost bought the Alex Kovalev DVD today at HMV. Think I'll buy it next time I'm there. _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!
