From a game in which we beat a team for the 9th straight time, to a game in which we've lost to the team 9 straight times. From daddy to bitch.

But... it ends tonight. We will score at least 4 goals tonight, and we will walk out of New Jersey with a win... something we haven't done since Theodore stood on his head and guided the team to a gripping 1-0 shutout win in his Hart Trophy campaign in 2002.

Here's what we're facing guys:

http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/sports/story.html?id=4c1e76b9-8803-4634-9a39-2f3327ca9a27&k=24803
Quote:
The Devils have a nine-game winning streak against the Canadiens, and Montreal hasn't won a game in New Jersey since Feb. 5, 2002, when José Theodore shut out the Devils 1-0.

In fact, history suggests it will take a shutout for the Canadiens to win. Theodore's victory was Montreal's first win in New Jersey since Patrick Roy was a 2-0 winner on Oct. 26, 1993. Since that win, the Canadiens are 1-21-4 in Jersey.

It ends tonight. No shutout needed.

Ugh. I'll be missing most of the game, and that will probably be for the best.

No chance here, Marty will go all out now that he has the weekend off. Rolling Eyes

Montreal is just giving Marty an extended break. Rolling Eyes

Everything looked panicked for Montreal that period. 3 freaking shots.

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally! And in a big 3rd period comeback, no less!

I said 4 goals, they delivered! 4-3 Final.

New Jersey fell apart, and if this game is the only game that makes the Smolinski signing look good, it was worth it just for this. Man, we needed to beat the Devils badly, particularly in Joisey. Considering they're a potential playoff foe... man, we needed some confidence.

Bégin looked like he might be the dope of the match with a terrible clear attempt that lead to the first NJ goal and a bad penalty to put the team down 5 on 3 which Jersey took a 3-1 lead on. But his hard work in the final minute and a half helped seal the victory, even drawing a penalty on Langenbrunner (tripping).

Koivu and Higgins broke out finally.... Saku scoring the tying goal on a re-direct that was oh so close to being a high stick, and Higgins with the GWG on a PP that finally delivered after blowing a lot of chances earlier. The Koivu goal may have been a PP goal as well, it was right at the end.

The Habs outshot them 33-13, 20-3 in the 3rd.

We just hit 60 points in game 49. That's a 100 point pace.

...remember last year when I said we had to break the habit of relying solely on top flight goaltending to win games? Well, our goalie only made 10 saves tonight and it didn't matter. We're not Detroit by any means, but we seem so much less dependent on our goalies now... it's all about puck possession.

BTW, our PK heading into this game had improved to 16th in the league. We allowed a couple tonight, but the trend is positive in that regard... and we're using Plekanec and Kovalev more on the PK than we used to, which I don't think is a coincidence in the turnaround.

Great call Bruce, as I was with EL and thought they had no chance.

I realized that this would be the first time Saku's ever won a game in Jersey, since he was still out from his cancer treatment at the time of the only win there in his career. That's insane.
