This is an absolute disaster, an absolute joke and it's pretty fucking obvious that this season was a fluke up to this point. 82 games down the fucking drain. I'd chalk this up to youth if it wasn't for a couple of players obviously stinking it up when there's no comprehensible reason for them to at this point.

And I'm looking at you, Andrei Markov. You've been outplayed by Patrice Brisebois and there's no fucking excuse for that. You're fucking 29 years old and an elite defenseman in this league. You've quarterbacked the best PP in the league the past two seasons, matched up against the top lines in the league for the past 5 years and in the past 2 seasons have almost always come out on top... because you take initiative. You control them. You take the puck away, put it on a forward's stick or carry it yourself into the attacking zone. You don't get beat wide and you defend the pass across ice. You move the puck efficiently in the offensive zone, setting up one timers and letting go some hard shots yourself. You also would skate around the perimeter with the puck on the PP, and try and come in behind the D for the back door pass.

But instead, in this series, you have fucking just wanted to get rid of the puck at every occasion, and if you don't find a quick and easy way to do it, you just fucking stand there like a fucking deer in the headlights. You're acting like you have the skill level of Rhett Warrener for fuck's sake. You've done absolutely nothing productive since the regular season ended and you've fucking lost me as a supporter if you don't get your head out of your fucking ass and start playing like fucking Andrei Markov.

Speaking of dead weight, what the fuck happened to Tomas Plekanec? I don't fucking expect miracles from you but you've completely deferred your game to Kovalev, refusing to get open for him and go to areas of the ice that might require taking a little fucking body contact. You admitted to everyone that you've played like a little girl and you haven't fucking changed anything at all. The Tomas Plekanec of the 2006 playoffs was a fucking hockey player even if he didn't get many points. He was the only one to step up in Saku's absence that series. Everyone can talk about how Kovalev hasn't been effective, but it's a two-way street with you and him. You're playing scared and there's just a huge fucking hole on the top line as a result. And your PP work has been absolutely atrocious, though I still think that's Markov's fault moreso than yours. But like Markov getting outplayed by Brisebois, you are getting outplayed by fucking Bryan Smolinski. Not to mention every single Boston centre including fucking Vladamir Sobotka.

There are other underperformers on this team, but you two have no fucking excuse, and it's obvious the team isn't going to compete for anything with you two fucking folding under the pressure. Tough fucking shit if the B's are more aggressive than you ever anticipated. You two are way more passive and timid than anyone could ever have anticipated. Do you seriously expect that everything would just be the same, that the team would win regardless of your performance and that it was more important to save your energy for the later rounds? Because that's what it fucking looks like, and your performance to date supports this and no fucking other excuse. Because you aren't limping in any form, it's your decisions not your physical condition that is obviously hurting.

Because this series is going seven, there is virtually no chance that this team, if we're lucky enough to win on Monday (and we've pretty much left it up to luck at this point), will win the Cup, or even get to the Final. In a marathon, you try and conserve as much energy for the end... the only way you do that in the SC Playoffs is by finishing teams off as quickly as possible.

What could've been a sweep has become a fucking choke job. Congratu-fucking-lations.

Err...keep the faith?

Look, Markov has fallen apart, and I'm thinking he might be hurt (which still wouldn't explain the many many brain cramps). Komisarek has definitely not recovered from his injury - his hitting has been poor and he's been coughing up the puck too.

Plexo has been bad, without a doubt. And the supposed top line's play in the 3rd last night was inexcusable.

The season wasn't a fluke though, that's just you speaking out of anger. Markov is a Norris-calibre dman and Plekanec can be a top line player. I can't explain the horrid PP, or our inability to capitalize on the millions of juicy rebounds given up by Tiny Tim. Our passing and speed, our two best attributes, haven't been utilized to our advantage, as we seem content to dump and chase with one forechecker. I think Mark Streit, a veteran of international experience, has really shocked us all with his inability to play with pressure.

I'm taking this one game at a time, and I still think if they play even close to what they are capable of even a hard working team of plumbers like Boston don't really stand a chance. Will it happen? I don't know, but I'm a fan and I want to see this team make the second round, even if it's by the skin of their teeth.

I'm not ready to cry choke just yet, although losing to a no. 8 seed would be a disaster for any team.

I'm pretty calm about this, if we lose I'm not going to talk about killing other players or about how boorish fans from other cities are like some hyperactive five year-old. I care a lot about this team and my city, but I'm not here to minimize anyone else or deride what other people think. I really want the Canadiens to win the Cup, and this year felt like we had the ghosts behind us, but maybe we don't. This team still has a great young core, the best goalie in the NHL and we'll contend again.

Losing tomorrow will be an opportunity missed, because playing to our ability we're the best team in the East. Will the team be able to set aside all their personal misgivings about the series and play their style of game? I hope so.

There is a lesson that you two absolutely fail to get. In the playoffs, talent will always lose out to hard work. It's absolutely insulting to the incredible work ethic of the Bruins that you continue to think that this has anything to do with your team. It does not. The Bruins are all pulling one way, playing a system that was instilled in them from day 1 of training camp, and they're working as hard as human beings can possibly work. That, rather than the perceived inadequacies of your players, is why we are going back to Montreal.

There was no sweep to be had Sask, because the Bruins decided that there wouldn't be. It's time for some credit to be given to the Bruins, even if you don't like it very much...

When the Montreal Canadiens swept the Boston Bruins 8-0 in the regular season, they were not only the more talented team on the ice, they were also working harder, skating harder, hitting harder and playing harder.

Sweeps don't really happen nowadays unless your opponent is an imploding train wreck.

The Canadiens needed to bring the same work ethic they brought during the regular season. They haven't yet beyond the first game.

I don't understand why a post in the Montreal forum should be talking Boston. There's another forum for that.

There are probably a number of reasons why this series is going to 7. The two biggest reasons that stick out for me are 1. the collapse of the top line, and 2. the collapse of the power play unit - and the two aren't mutually exclusive. The Kosty's aren't ready yet - but that's not a shock. Pleks is invisible - that is a shock. Kovy is therefore trying to be a one man show - bad move. And Markov ..... that's shocking.

I don't really think this is an issue of injuries, but I'm sure they will highlighted if Montreal loses. Enough of the team is healthy to compensate - and it doesn't explain general malaise surrounding their performance.

Koivu's return took some pressure of the ineffective top line, and I expect that to improve in Game 7. Will that be enough? Who knows. I do know that if Montreal wins - I'm going to do my best to rub it in to Razz Wink

Our pp dropped from 21,4% to under 10%. That's important. Kovalev is a one-man show because Plekanec sucks bigtime (though his goal last game was funny).

And yes, Sask, Markov stinks. I dunno what happened but he's not even average.

I'm going to watch the game tonight. Win this one, suckers. Evil or Very Mad

Did you read my posts about games 3 and 4? Or whenever I post about Hasek or Lilja? Or game 6 against Anaheim last year? Laughing

The Koivu effect seems to be taking hold... thank God. A team can't win with only one line - ask Bryan Murray.
