Now that the Oilers' season has come to an end, some questions to ask.
1. What the hell is that on Pouliot's upper lip!?
2. What to do about Lowe and MacTavish? Lowe IMO let desperation get the better of him when he acquired Souray and Penner, giving up valuable cap space and draft picks. Though the picks won't be as high as some people thought they might be at the beginning of the year, the Oilers have effectively locked themselves out of a good draft.
If I were Katz (he does own the team now, right?) I'd fire Lowe as soon as possible and maybe keep MacT on for one more year.
3. Is it just me or does Glencross look a little like Sloth (the Goonies character, not OTP's own) with that misplaced eye?
4. How soon can they ditch those God-awful uniforms? Seriously, it's like they forgot to finish them or something...
5. To keep or not to keep Jarrett Stoll?
6. What free agents (if any) should the Oil target? Is a trade necessary to shore up the offense and/or goaltending situation?
Can't think of any more questions at present... |

MacT helped make Denis Grebeshkov a viable NHL d-man, so I think he should be brought back based on that alone. Seriously, how many teams had given up on him, and if you compared him from November to what he became down the stretch... there's no way that's the same player.
The Oil still have Anaheim's first rounder, so it's not all for not with Penner. I don't know if it was the right move, but it wasn't a catastrophic one by any means in the short term. Long term, it might still be a benefit.
This team should not sign any forwards in the offseason, and really they should keep Jarret Stoll.
I wouldn't change much on this team, really. If a good trade can be made, obviously look at it, but they'd be best advised to stay out of the UFA (and RFA) pool unless they can land a big fish.
If Edmonton is truly going to change the perception they have league wide amongst the players, it's going to start with their current generation. Let 'em play. _________________ It's backwards time. |
