Wow, didn't know something like this could happen.

Something all OTP parents should read:

I'll chalk this up to Driving in an automobile can be fatal....................

This article and the topic in generally is rather fishy.

My son spends summers in the Water.........I spent summers in the water as a kid. We've all gotten water in our lungs at some point that we hack out.

What this frightening article fails to mention is that this usually occurs after a near drowning incident. Dry Drowning is a very new "condition" and every unqualified asshole on the web has offered their opinion (including me!). By reading this.....the outcome is most certainly death as CPR doesn't work and a vaccuum needs to created in the lungs (which requires an ER visit or an oxygen bottle).

Personally the media can shove this fearmongering topic up their ass. While vaguely informative its about as worthless as "riding in a car can be fatal."

Well, certainly not a reason to get all paranoid with your kid's well-being and all, but at least now you can learn the lesson this poor mom learned too late.

Your car analogy doesn't quite hold. No one goes driving, comes home seemingly fine, and then dies from a car accident.

Very well but there have been reports of folks involved in car accidents that die after the fact as well. And what I pointed out was after "near drowning."

What kid doesn't come home tired from swimming? I've got no problem with the post I've just got a problem with the hysteria it causes.

Well, Harmy was right to be a little skeptical.

http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/drydrowning.asp

Essentially, the story is true, BUT a few of the facts got smudged.
