| Have they figured out why the hell that's happening? I heard it had something to do with environmental changes, I'm guessing global warming... |

Very little of it has to do with globabl warming. A lot has to do with the dumping of chemicals into waters, or the introduction of foreign agents into their ecosystems. They're a quite vulnerable species.
