VS.
PREVIEW
Sid the Kid, Malkin and Co. bring their show to Denver. CANNOT believe last time I checked there were still tickets available. Fuckin' Denver fans...
Anyway the Pens have been okay but not nearly as consistent offensively as many had hoped, apparently I've ready Staal, Old Man Roberts, and Recchi inparticular are struggling mightily. Doesn't help that Therrien is leaning more and more on Dany Sabourin rather than Marc-Andre Fleury. Conversely, Malkin and Crosby have been red-hot.
I have to play a game of my own tonight so I'll miss the first period. Hope the Avs stay out of the penalty box, I don't like the chances of the PK against a power play that can roll out this much talent. |

Crosby was his usual brilliant self, bouncing a shot off Clark's skate to score one and firing a one-timer on the power play to score another and we're down 2-0 after the first...but the one thing the Avs have that the Pens don't ended up winning out in the end--better grinders.
Laperriere and Guite were awesome in this game, especially Guite who must've taken that healthy scratch a few games back to heart. He was all over the ice and was by far our best penalty killer on the night. He earned the wraparound game-winner through hard work and well, a bad move by Sabourin. Other than that Sabourin was solid, if not brilliant on the night. But if indeed Fleury is not the answer, Shero better make a move and make it soon, Sabourin isn't good enough to start...maybe he should give Burke a call, or Lomba...y'know I just won't say that.
Wolski on an 8 game point streak, Sakic on a 6 game streak.
Avs still perfect at home!!!! |
