well you can't argue with that. I don't think Sauer is better than Finger but the numbers don't lie I suppose.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  That is hilarious.
But I can't believe it completely because 'Finger' sticks out as a name and the 3 inch height difference should be noticeable. Avs fans - do they look similar on the ice?

Oh, I can believe it. We're talking the Leafs here.
Maybe they just ignored Sauer's acheivements since he's been in the NHL for 6 years and were impressed by the in-roads made by Finger in one year. It may not have been confusion so much as exaggeration of Finger's prowess. But the facts speak for themselves, the guy that best meets the descriptions the Leafs' brass are giving is Sauer, not Finger.
On a side note, the stats also show just how poor of a year Scott Hannan did have. Look how little they used him as the shutdown guy at the end of the year compared to early, particularily vs. Iginla.

Yep, Hannan was pretty much our worst defenseman last season...well, it was a close race between him and John-Michael Liles. Hannan's suck was that much more noticeable because of how ridiculously soft that damned fool played. Thank the Hockey Gods we still have Ruslan Salei.
And uh, not sure how Leafs brass got confused between Finger and Sauer. Both play completely different games. |
