According to Swedish media outlet Expressen, Henrick Zetterberg, wants to sign a single career ending contract to remain in Detroit. It is anticipated he will want a contract in the range of what Heatley and Datsyuk have already received. A rough number bandied about is $47 million over six year which would work out to roughly $7.8 million a year.

Can he be signed for multiple lives?

The Hart Trophy awaits, Hank.

So is Lidstrom captain for life now? Or is he just keeping the C warm for Hank?

Lidstrom will wear it as long as he wants to remain an active player. Lidstrom is like Chelios, he's a conditioning monster and rarely misses games due to injury or otherwise. It is especially noteable that with the way he plays the position I could see him playing well into his 40's. If the Red Wings can maintain their status as Cup contenders I think he will play well into his 40's. That said, it is an almost certainty that the minute Lidstrom retires Zetterberg will wear the "C".
