Not really about the game, but on the crap that occurs in between.
So here it is:
Bill Watters said that the Leafs offered the following to Rick Dudley in 2000 for Lecavalier.
Thomas Kaberle
Jonas Hoglund
Nik Antropov
and a 1st round pick (Carlo C) or another player whose name I can't remember.
Dudley calls back 1 hour before the trade deadline and says his Mom and Dad won't let him (i.e. the owners won't approve the deal), to which Watters et al assume to mean that the deal was close to being completed. Don't they know that this is the exclusive domain of Montreal sports "reporters"?
I wonder how long will it take before Toronto's sports media say that the Leafs were close to acquiring Crosby. I say February 18, 2011. _________________ The fans represent the soul of the organization. This is their team. Us, we simply try to make it better. I heard that one a few weeks ago. I wanted Detroit to trade for him way back in the day too. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Waters has been talking up that for a few years now...maybe he thinks it'll get him back in the business somewhere?
Anyway as a Leaf fan take Hoglund out of the deal and I would have been okay with it. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

You do realize you may be the only fan in all of Leafdom to like Hoglund more than Tucker, right? |

Oh not a fan at all, I just have a short attention span so I find it convenient to have one player to channel all my disgust toward. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |
