from yesterday's game wrap-up on tsn.ca (which Philly lost 4-1) to Dallas:

'Flyers LW Riley Cote was given a match penalty for hitting Matt Niskanen into the boards at 17:46 of the third period.'

Very intentional elbow along the boards. It was quite ridiculous. John Stevens needs to be fined ASAP, otherwise there will be no accountability.

3 games, and a warning from the league that they may be sent to their room before dessert is served.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three...four...five times?...Well, that will get you a good finger-waving and the frowning of a life time.

Cote did not seem surprised by the length of his punishment.

"I knew for sure I'd get a couple," he said, "just the way things are going and our reputation and my status (as an enforcer)."

So if there were consistently heftier suspensions for match penalties would guys like Cote think twice before jumping to throw an elbow at a vulnerable players head with 2:14 to go in a regular season 4-1 loss?

Here's the youtube clip by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IgVgZLb5WM

3 games. What a fucking joke. They're afraid to give the Flyers the suspensions they deserve after the Downie and Boulerice shots. This is pathetic.

I think he's refering to about a week ago, when he wanted a certain team's plane to crash, and you told him it's only a game.

I watched the game. The hit and elbow were definitely intentional...fortunately the helmet took the brunt of the hit. At least the kid was able to get up and walk away....but that's no reason to take it lightly.

At least he was suspeneded.

Oh, right. Laughing

I guess I should eat my words: the NHL handing out a suspension in a separate incident shows that the deaths of dozens of people were definitely warranted.

Are the Flyers taking requests?

If so, please take out Skoula tomorrow night.

Thank you!

I thought I heard somewhere that Lemaire likes him. Does he have dementia, or is that actually true?

Sadly, it is true.

Skoula's just...Skoula.

I watched him when he broke in with the Avs (I lived in Denver at the time) and he had good offensive upside but gave up as many scoring chances against as he created.

Now, that offense is gone and he's still giving up chances.

Sounds like a younger Patrice Brisebois.
