|
|
Sat down after dinner to watch this with the family and came in with the score 1-0. The puck went off of Draper's face, dropped and he pounded it in through Turco for the 1-0 lead. Then he went off for 6 stitches. 3 chipped teeth as well.
Detroit scored 2 more in the first period and it was starting to remind me of game 7 of the WCF in 2002 against Colorado. Lidstrom tried to get a point shot through on the PP and it ended up between a Dallas defenseman's legs, and Datsyuk put it over Turco and in for the 2-0 lead. Drake put in a rebound that Turco thought he had in his glove for the 3-0 lead.
Zetterberg scored the 4th Detroit goal on a shorthanded breakaway where he came down, completely froze Turco with a move and then buried a shot blocker side.
Robidas scored Dallas' only goal on a PP in the third on a one-timer on a pass from Ribeiro.
Dallas had a huge advantage in PP's, and Detroit did an excellent job on the PK all night long.
Drake and Robidas were at each other with big hits the entire night. Drake played extremely well picking up a goal and an assist, hitting people all night long, killing penalties and blocking shots.
Detroit played a good third period running down the clock in the Dallas zone. Dallas had a couple of good opportunities, but Ozzy made some great saves and Dallas never came close to a comeback.
Chelios was out with a leg injury and Lilja was in
Line of the night went to my brother who, upon hearing that Chelios was out, asked "What is he out with? Alzheimers?".
Pitts-Det Final. My fav team vs my younger bro's newer fav team(Leaf fan for a long time, but he's a big Fleury and Gary fan, so he's become more of a Pens fan). He's had the Fleury jersey since that first time Fleury was up with the Pens. He'll be in Australia for the Cup Finals, though, so he's told my Mom that she'll have to wear his Fleury while I wear my Osgood jersey. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

For Pittsburgh to win the Cup, Fleury will have to be the Conn Smythe winner and steal at least 3 games. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her.
